Position(s) Supervised: Clinical Trainees when applicable

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Work Location: On-site, Minneapolis

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually

JOB SUMMARY:

The Mental Health Professional is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services with an emphasis on Diagnostic Assessments, while also supporting individuals with co-occurring disorders. This role integrates mental health treatment with substance use disorder services, collaborates closely with SUD professionals, and facilitates mental health groups as needed. The clinician will deliver high-quality, ethical, and culturally responsive care in accordance with all agency policies and Minnesota Department of Human Services requirements.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES :

- Complete 26 direct service hours weekly.

- Complete and document all Diagnostic Assessments, Individual Treatment Plans, therapy progress notes, case reviews, and discharge summaries per agency policy and MN Department of Human Services requirements. Documentation must be completed within agency-required timelines.

- Provide psychoeducation to clients and staff related to mental health and co-occurring disorders.

- Ensure the content and format of client records are uniform and entries in each case are signed and dated by a licensed mental health professional.

- Actively participate in all required clinical supervision requirements.

- Provide individual therapy services, including telehealth services in compliance with state telehealth regulations when applicable.

- Facilitate Mental Health groups.

- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate services with SUD counselors and other professionals.

- Initiate and maintain ongoing communication with client referrals, family members, and any relevant professionals, including psychiatry, medical doctors, school systems, social service agencies, and probation.

- Conduct professional evaluations, making decisions and recommendations for treatment planning and implementation.

- Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

- Expertise in assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapeutic services.

- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders and the ability to integrate mental health services with substance use disorder treatment.

- Competence using telehealth platforms and delivering virtual clinical services.

- Sensitivity to individual differences and to the possible effects of multicultural issues.

- Ability to provide respectful, equitable, and culturally responsive services.

- Excellent individual counseling and documentation skills.

- Strong clinical judgment, crisis assessment, and de-escalation skills.

- Ability to practice competently and ethically.

- Maintain clinical records in compliance with PIR policies and regulatory standards.

- Task oriented and capable of meeting weekly minimum caseload requirements.

- Ensure compliance with Department of Human Services (DHS) and clinical board requirements and documentation.

- Independent worker and self-starter.

- Ability to work independently and as a positive member of a team.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Active Mental Health Professional License in the state of Minnesota – LICSW/LMFT preferred.

- Minimum of two years’ experience with clinical mental health diagnosis and psychotherapy treatment.

- Knowledge and understanding of implications of parts 9530.6405 to 9530.6505, 9543.1000 to 9543.1060, and Minnesota Statutes, chapter 245A, and sections 626.556, 626.557, and 626.5572.

- Knowledge and understanding of implications of MN Statures 245.462 and 256B.0757. Rules 9505.0370 through 3505.371, subp.5, item D. MN statutes 256B.0625, subd. 20, 245.461 to 245.468, 245.487 to 245.4887, and Minnesota Rules 9505.0322, and 9520.0900 to 9520.0926.  Minnesota Statutes 256B.0943and 256B.0623. 256B.02, subdivision 7, paragraphs (b) and (c) and the MN MHCP provider manual for mental health services.

- Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Background Study clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of Ritten software.

- Strong computer literacy skills.

- Experience working with trauma, attachment difficulties, emotional and behavioral escalations, and complex family systems.

- Experience working with and/or delivering services to diverse populations.

- Experience providing telehealth or hybrid clinical services.

- Experience working within integrated behavioral health or co-occurring disorder programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- On-site work occurs in an office or clinical setting, including private therapy offices and group rooms.

- Remote work must be conducted from a private, confidential space that meets HIPAA requirements.

- Reliable high-speed internet connection is required for telehealth sessions, documentation, and virtual meetings.

- May be required to adjust on-site days to accommodate client needs, team meetings, or urgent clinical matters.

- Frequent use of computers, phones, video platforms, and electronic health record systems.

- Must adhere to all organizational safety protocols, confidentiality requirements, and telehealth practice standards.

- Must be comfortable working independently in a remote setting while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.

CONTINUED EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

- Complete 30 hours of continuing education courses in current treatment concepts and methods as required by the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) and/or State Licensing Boards every 2 years.
- Maintain current mental health professional licensure in the state of Minnesota.

- Attend in-house training and staff meetings.

- Stay current regarding professional research, techniques, theories, and ethics.
