The Dematic Lifecycle Solutions and Services - Modernizations and Upgrades (LSSMU) team has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer. This individual will be part of a project execution team dedicated to one of Dematic’s strategic clients. The successful candidate will have 2+ years of experience contributing to and leading material handling system design and application on varying scale projects. Candidates must have significant experience with material handling systems and demonstrated success working taking initiative, working under pressure and maintaining composure in front of customers.
The LSSMU Mechanical Engineer will be highly involved with completing and leading daily tactical project execution tasks necessary for the successful completion of multiple short duration projects throughout the year. They will also be a key component of building a dynamic team by partnering closely with the customer and leveraging internal knowledge and industry experience to exceed expectations.

What you Will Do in This Role:
- Own and execute mechanical engineering scope for assigned Amazon modernization/retrofit projects
- Ensure project targets are met for quality, on-time delivery, and cost. Anticipate issues and address proactively where appropriate
- Maintain up-to-date project log through department project tracking tool
- Regularly report on project portfolio performance including but not limited to: on-time delivery, budget, quality, risks
- Own short-term monthly forecast across assigned projects regardless of resource reporting.
- Completes the design of complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
- Completes complex material specification, schematic preparation and appropriate follow-up.
- Completes recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.
- Performs complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.
- Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills to deal with most situations.
- Master understanding of project schedule and budget for Mechanical Engineering functions.
Tasks and Qualifications:
What We are Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- At least 5 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer, but 8+ years is preferred.
- Proficiency in CET Configura and Autocad is highly preferred.
- Familiar with Amazon DC installation type (ARS, IXD, SSD, Air Hub, non-sort).
- Familiarity with Amazon specific MTBH, rates, and sub-system designs.
- Familiar with Amazon design specifications.
- Strong background in Material Handling/automation industry.
- Experience in a Mechanical Engineering position that is project-based (design to installation).
- Strong communication skills/presentation skills.
- Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of moderately complex assignments.
- Successfully applies knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.
- Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues.
- Communicates, trains and works with customer for final system design.
- Travels up to 20% of the time to different customer locations/Dematic locations
