Temporary Instructor - Better to Learn

Better to Learn is a partnership between Brandeis University Precollege Programs and Legacy Heritage Fund that brings together Jewish teens in weekly online learning sessions. In addition, students will be invited to the Boston area for a three-day residency in late December for thoughtful in-person learning with our instructors and  guest speakers. They will also  connect with their online peers and tour Brandeis University.

Brandeis University seeks Instructors to teach the Better to Learn courses. Instructors will be employed by Brandeis University.

Responsibilities

- Create a 10-session semester-long course on a topic approved in advance by Brandeis and LHF on the following dates (last 2 sessions to be taught in person at the Seminar);

October 18 (Orientation at 5:30PM), 25

November 1, 8, 15, 22

December 6, 13

- Provide course syllabus to Brandeis and LHF staff at least one month prior to the beginning of classes.
- Prepare suggested readings for student (1 per session).
- Deliver 1 hour course sessions via Zoom (either from 6-7pm EST or 7:15-8:15pm EST) on Sunday evenings.
- Register for a Brandeis email address and host Zoom session (tech set up by Brandeis).
- Read and evaluate students’ final papers.

Qualifications

- Advanced academic degree or coursework in Judaic Studies.
- Experience in developing and implementing curriculum for teens.
- Experience teaching and working with teens.
- Must be creative, flexible and able to comply with all program policies.

Compensation :

- One Class per semester + Winter Retreat: $6,825
- Two classes per semester + Winter Retreat: $13650
