Description
Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business makes sure we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers get their items on time. It’s driven by Operations Managers who bring the team together to push excellence in safety, quality and productivity across our sites. At your site, you’ll lead other managers and create the operational plan that helps your teams meet their targets. This role is all about driving operational excellence to create the Amazon of tomorrow.
Key job responsibilities
You’ll lead shifts at one of our operational sites. You’ll also be the key link between a number of teams, including finance, safety and operations integration teams. That means you’ll be close to the day-to-day operations at your site but also contribute to new ways to innovate at your site.
A day in the life
A typical day will involve meetings with different areas of the business, deep diving into performance and risk metrics for sites, and looking ahead to prepare for different levels of demand. Every day will also involve mentoring and coaching your team. You’ll be a source of leadership and support your team to be the best managers they can be.
About the team
Amazon Logistics (AMZL) manages last-mile delivery in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We combine creative thinking and continuous improvement to deliver millions of products to customers as smoothly as possible.
Our operation has two sides: "Under the roof," associates process and dispatch products across 24/7 shifts in a people-focused environment. "On the road," we work with DSPs – a network of delivery contractors – to raise the bar on customer experience through innovative delivery services.
We tackle industry-wide logistics challenges while reducing our carbon footprint, supported by new technology and a growing fleet of Electric Vehicles.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience using data analysis to drive business decisions
- Experience with operations/supply chain
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or a Master's degree and experience working for Amazon or any Amazon subsidiary or affiliate
- Experience with process improvements (Lean Six Sigma and/or Kaizen)
- Experience in logistics, or experience in commercial tasks or environments
- Experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment, or experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
