Electrical Lab/Armored Vehicle Harness Technician

Job Description
BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Prototype Electrical Fabrication Technician. This role is critical to the development of our combat vehicles, specifically requiring experience in tracked vehicle prototype assembly.

The successful candidate will support design engineering through the fabrication, integration, and testing of electrical prototype components and assemblies. Responsibilities of this job classification include electrical fabrication, assembly, inspection, test, and field support, as well as the ongoing maintenance and rework of prototype vehicles within the Sterling Heights Prototype Shop.

This position requires advanced technical skill in electrical harness prototyping, repair, and maintenance for military ground combat vehicles. Candidates must apply comprehensive fabrication and electrical knowledge to ensure all products, processes, and workmanship meet strict technical specifications.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School Diploma and eight years of relevant work experience if applicant does not have military MOS comparable training (see 'Preferred Education, Experience & Skills' section.
- Able to: Work from engineering drawings, sketches, samples and verbal instructions.
- Perform layout using shop math, fundamental blueprint reading and handbook data.
- Fabricate and build parts, cables, harnesses and assemblies, junction boxes to include military harness systems using standard electrical shop equipment, materials and mil-spec soldering techniques.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems, electronic subsystems, microprocessor circuitry and components and make necessary repairs.
- Reconstruct drawings in the form of wire lists and/or schematics for harness fabrication use.
- Perform layout of vehicle electrical repairs in depth from blueprint reading capability and handbook or technical manual data.
- Fabricate and modify printed circuit boards.
- Show competence in testing and analyzing circuit designs through breadboarding, troubleshooting and substitution to prove out concepts.
- Troubleshoot vehicle electrical and electronic subsystems.
- Design or assist in design of new circuits and assist engineering in the installation of instrumentation hookups.
- Select all tools and materials necessary to test and analyze equipment necessary to complete tasks and performs all necessary maintenance on equipment with minimal supervision.
- Note and report variances or discrepancies in drawings or work and report them to the supervisor or appropriate person(s).
- Give full attention to the prevention of personal injury and prevention of injury to others

- Should not require assistance and guidance in only the most complicated work.
- Must have IPC J-STD-001 certificate for solder requirements for electrical & electronic assemblies.
- Must have IPC-A-610 certificate for adhering to consistent manufacturing quality & reliability of electronic components.
- Previous experience working on military tracked, wheeled military vehicles, naval electronic or aircraft electrical systems (Requirement for Interview).
- Capable of operating overhead cranes & forklifts.
- MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN SECRET CLEARANCE
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Heavy diesel engine mechanics & troubleshooting experience on military tracked vehicles as a Field Service Repair Technician a plus for interview.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $66017 - $105628

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
