About this role

Job Description The Director of Automation, AI, Autonomy (A3) Proposal Integration reports directly to the VP of Proposal Operations and is responsible for evaluating, developing and integrating AI tools into the I&S proposal development process. They are responsible for refining proposal development processes to include consistent application of AI tools into development efforts, training teams to securely use the appropriate AI tools, and measuring the effectiveness of the tools and process updates. They are to continuously monitor effectivity of the tools and processes and revise as needed. They are also responsible for developing, collecting and reporting on KPI’s for Automation, AI, Autonomy (A3) within the Proposal Resource Organization. This role will lead the charge in transforming capture and proposal management lifecycles. By embedding generative AI and intelligent retrieval tools into workflow operations, the goal is to reduce manual drafting time, accelerate the generation of compliance matrices, and increase the Probability of Win (PWin) on strategic federal contracts.
Roles & Responsibilities
Proposal Transformation Leadership: Lead the proposal organization’s shift toward AI ‑ enhanced proposal processes, ensuring alignment with federal procurement expectations and internal quality standards. Bridge gaps between proposal technical content, customer mission needs, and proposal messaging using AI ‑ accelerated analysis. Serve as the liaison between proposal AI capabilities and other AI initiatives across I&S and other sectors.
AI Workflow Analysis: Develop and integrate AI-enabled workflows into the I&S Proposal Management Process. To include strengths-based writing, color reviews, scoring, and compliance. Embed generative AI and retrieval ‑ augmented generation (RAG) into daily proposal operations to reduce manual drafting time and accelerate compliance matrix development.
AI Configuration & Prompt Engineering: Customize I&S proposal AI tools to align with specific organizational tasks, building tailored prompt libraries and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Training & Continuous Improvement: Train proposal teams on how to effectively refine AI outputs, avoid hallucinations, and implement human-in-the-loop review. Automate processes and create desktop work instructions where applicable to ensure consistent and reliable tool use. Continuously research, test, and recommend emerging GovCon AI tools to optimize proposal timelines and increase team productivity and raise the overall quality and throughput of the proposal function
Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure AI adoption rates, productivity gains, and proposal cycle time reductions to inform investment decisions and demonstrate ROI.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. 8+ years of federal proposal management experience with a proven track record of leveraging AI Proposal Development tools in government contracting.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of the federal procurement process, SAM.gov, FAR/DFARS regulations, SalesForce and GovWin IQ or similar market intelligence tools.
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts.
- Compliance & Security: Solid grasp of federal data security requirements.
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in leading high-performing teams and managing direct reports, with a focus on leadership, mentorship, and the professional development of direct reports.
- Communication: Exceptional writing, editing, and analytical skills combined with the ability to bridge the gap between technical data and federal mission needs.
- Clearance: Active US Security Secret Clearance, Able to obtain TS/SCI

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $153377 - $260743

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
