Position Summary
The Sports & Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator is responsible for leading and supporting sports, recreation, and healthy lifestyle programming at the Estelle S. Campbell Clubhouse. This position plays a key role in creating a fun, safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where young people of all ages can develop physical skills, confidence, teamwork, and healthy habits.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, organized, and relationship-focused leader who is passionate about working with youth and has a strong interest in sports, recreation, or healthy lifestyles. This person should be comfortable taking ownership of programming, leading groups, working with volunteers, communicating with families, and creating an environment where kids want to participate.
Key Responsibilities
Sports & Recreation Programming
- Lead the day-to-day sports and healthy lifestyle programming at the Estelle S. Campbell Clubhouse.
- Create, develop, and implement engaging gym activities for preschool and after-school participants.
- Lead age-appropriate games, sports, fitness activities, and recreational programming.
- Support the Senior Sports Manager in planning and implementing specialty sports programs, leagues, clinics, and events.
- Help ensure programming is safe, inclusive, positive, and appropriate for the age and skill level of participants.
- Help introduce young people to a variety of sports and physical activities, creating opportunities for both beginners and experienced athletes.
- Assist with special events, tournaments, camps, clinics, and other sports-related initiatives as needed.
Program Leadership & Operations
- Take ownership of the daily execution of sports programming at ESC.
- Prepare the gym and equipment for programming and ensure spaces are safe, organized, and ready for participants.
- Manage transitions between programs and maintain a positive, structured environment.
- Track participation and help monitor program attendance and engagement.
- Identify opportunities to improve programming and increase participation.
- Support other Clubhouse programs and activities when needed.
Family & Volunteer Engagement
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents and caregivers regarding sports programming, schedules, expectations, and participant needs.
- Serve as a point of contact for volunteer coaches and assist with their onboarding and day-to-day support.
- Build positive relationships with youth, families, volunteers, and Clubhouse staff.
- Help recruit and engage volunteers to strengthen sports programming.
Marketing & Community Engagement
- Help promote sports and healthy lifestyle programs at ESC through outreach, family communication, flyers, social media, and other marketing efforts.
- Work with the Senior Sports Manager and Marketing team to increase awareness and participation in sports programs.
- Help identify opportunities to bring community partners, coaches, athletes, and organizations into the Clubhouse.
Schedule
This position requires flexibility based on program needs. Typical hours may range from 11am-6pm. or 12-8pm , with the schedule varying based on specialty sports programs, leagues, clinics, and events.
Evening and occasional weekend availability may be required.

- Dependable, flexible, and willing to jump in wherever needed to support the Clubhouse.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children or youth in a sports, recreation, education, camp, or youth-development setting.
- Experience coaching, teaching, or leading youth sports or physical activity programs.
- Experience working with volunteers is a plus.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Education, Exercise Science, Youth Development, or a related field preferred.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who can walk into the gym, connect with kids, take ownership, and make sports programming something young people are excited to be part of.
