Job Description:

Position Purpose summary:

The Christmas Kettle Driver is responsible for delivering and picking up kettles from various assigned locations as directed.

Accountabilities:

- Deliver and/or pick up kettle(s) from assigned locations in a timely manner daily from Monday to Saturday, ensuring the security of donations.
- Deliver kettles to their final daily destination and help empty the kettle contents into the deposit bags.

- Coordinates with daytime staff to respond to daily changes in pick up plan.
- Maintains a positive working relationships with kettle sites, informing the coordinator or Corps Officer of conflicts/issues as they arise
- Replenish Kettle supplies as required; possibly provide maintenance to Kettles and supplies

- Maintain daily mileage log.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Working Conditions:

- This is a temporary part-time position for up to 27 hours per week.
- Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday.
- Flexibility in scheduling is required, as the hours may increase as per operational requirements.

- Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
- The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
- Working environment is driving from location to location and returning to the church.
- May deal with difficult people and verbal abuse.

- Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds in a safe manner.

- Some afternoon driving and evenings from approximately 5:45pm-8:30pm, fluctuating schedule – flexibility will be required at times
- November 12, 2026 – December 24, 2026

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

- Completed High School or equivalent

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

- Prior related experience is an asset.

- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of driver’s abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. A program vehicle will be used for driving.

- Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.

- Attentive listening skills for supervision, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Comfortable driving at night.

- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $22.23 with a maximum of $26.20.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
