Scope of Position

This motivated and detail-oriented individual, as part of the Quality and Production Engineering Team, will support projects that improve production efficiency, optimize workflow, and support operational excellence. This role offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment through collaboration with Production Engineers, cross-functional teams, and production operators.

This position reports to the Operations Manager. This role is onsite and is based in Fort Worth, TX.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Support Production Engineers by contributing to project execution and daily operational tasks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Purchasing, Sustaining Engineering, and Production Supervisors, to advance project goals.
- Design and develop fixturing and tooling solutions to enhance production cell efficiency.
- Create and revise factory floor layouts to optimize space utilization and workflow.
- Engage directly with production cells and operators on the factory floor to observe, learn, and support operations.
- Analyze cycle times for assemblies and unit production to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Measure and document improvements resulting from implemented changes to validate impact and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Support Watts’ commitment to continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies, communicating findings transparently, and taking accountability for assigned project deliverables.
- Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by the Quality and Engineering Manager or Company management.

Required Qualifications

- Current student (sophomore, junior or senior status).
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Passionate about engineering, with a genuine desire to contribute meaningfully to team objectives and make an impact.
- Demonstrated commitment to integrity and respect in interactions with others, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of tasks and following through on commitments.
- Understanding of and adherence to applicable laws, codes, policies, regulations, and safety practices and procedures, as applicable.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must successfully establish employment eligibility and satisfactorily complete background checks, including required pre-employment testing as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with CAD software for fixture design, tooling, or factory floor layouts.
- Exposure to manufacturing processes through coursework, projects, or previous work experience.
- Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies.

Working Conditions

While performing the job duties, you will be working onsite at the Fort Worth, TX location in both office and manufacturing environments. You may occasionally be required to perform responsibilities outside the typical office setting, including working directly with production cells and operators on the manufacturing floor. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn as required. Your scheduled work hours will be communicated to you by your manager.

Physical Requirements

Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

- Ability to remain seated at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
- Ability to physically move around the office, organize or transport files, packages, or other office-related materials.
- Ability to read documents, use a computer, and perform data entry tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly with management and coworkers, particularly in meetings or phone calls.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to physically move around the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management and coworkers.
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.

Pay Range: $22–$26

The expected hourly range for this position is $22–$26. Actual compensation will be dependent upon individual skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws.
