Basic Function

The Project Engineer - DC Power will manage engineering coordination for an assigned project in Borden County, Texas, working primarily in the field from the site trailer. This role connects contractors, the data center campus design team, consultants, and SB Energy’s in-house engineering resources to keep design decisions and deliverables aligned with project execution. The engineer brings strong electrical fundamentals and broad coordination skills, drawing on subject matter experts for specialized technical support and driving issues from identification through resolution and closeout.

Responsibilities

- Serve as the primary field contact for engineering and technical concerns, working from the project site trailer and coordinating timely resolution with contractors, consultants, and SB Energy subject matter experts.

- Coordinate design packages and interfaces across transmission line (T-Line), substation, and related power infrastructure scopes, including alignment with the data center campus design team.

- Manage contractor design schedules, deliverables, and review milestones to support procurement, construction, commissioning, and project completion; identify delays and drive corrective actions.

- Plan and coordinate design reviews with internal engineering resources and the Owner’s Engineering consultant; consolidate comments, resolve conflicting feedback, and track closure.

- Own the timely coordination and issuance of SB Energy responses to design reviews, requests for information (RFIs), and submittals, obtaining input and approvals from the appropriate technical authorities.

- Maintain engineering action, RFI, submittal, and design review logs; communicate priorities, overdue items, decisions, and risks to project leadership and field teams.

- Work closely with QA/QC on first articles and benchmarks, clarify design intent and acceptance criteria with the responsible engineers, and coordinate resolution of technical discrepancies.

- Engage in-house subject matter experts for specialized analysis and decisions; provide clear field information, route issues to the right resources, and follow through on documented resolutions.

- Coordinate with the Independent Engineer on technical questions, document requests, reviews, and milestone verification, tracking required responses through closure.

- Coordinate SB Energy’s review and responses for Mechanical Completion, SC, PIS, and other project milestone certificates, assembling supporting records and securing required internal approvals.

- Manage engineering closeout deliverables, including job books, as-built drawings, and turnover documentation; track contractor submissions for completeness and coordinate final review.

Partner with construction, project management, QA/QC, and commissioning teams to resolve engineering constraints and communicate approved changes and their schedule, cost, quality, and safety implications.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field required.

- 5-10 years of professional experience.

- Demonstrated leadership responsibility for projects exceeding $500 million in capital value.

- Experience coordinating engineering deliverables and field technical issues on power infrastructure, utility, industrial, or comparable construction projects.

- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals and ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical documentation; familiarity with transmission lines, substations, and data center power interfaces preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to manage design schedules, multidisciplinary reviews, RFIs, submittals, and engineering documentation through resolution.

- Sound technical judgment, including the ability to recognize when specialist input is needed, engage the appropriate experts, and translate their guidance into clear project actions.

- Strong organization, communication, and follow-through, with the ability to coordinate contractors, consultants, and internal teams across competing priorities.

- Ability to work primarily on site in an active construction environment and follow project safety requirements.

Location: Borden County, Texas. Primarily site-based, working from the project site trailer.

Base Pay - $140,000 - $165,000

The pay range mentioned above is a guideline. We tailor each offer based on your unique skills, experience, location, and market benchmarks—while ensuring internal parity across our teams. In addition to competitive base pay, total compensation may include a discretionary annual bonus and a market leading comprehensive health and wellness benefits package.
