Quality Program Specialist (Healthcare) - Job Overview

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8AM-5PM) | Hybrid

As a Quality Program Specialist, you’ll help transform quality data and improvement strategies into better care for patients across Legacy Community Health’s ambulatory settings. With direct oversight from the VP of Quality Management, you’ll support the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives aligned with HRSA, NCQA, UDS, and value-based care requirements.

You’ll build relationships with clinical and operational partners, support better patient outcomes, and help care teams meet important regulatory and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor and support performance on clinical quality measures, including UDS, HEDIS, and STAR, through data tracking, chart audits, and gap analysis.
- Collaborate with care teams to support accurate clinical documentation, coding, and use of EMR tools for quality reporting.
- Provide guidance and feedback on quality improvement tools and best practices that support quality metrics, including preventive care, chronic disease management, and exclusions.
- Conduct regular chart audits and provide feedback to providers and staff regarding care gaps, documentation accuracy, and compliance issues.
- Support implementation of Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs), Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), and Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) cycles.
- Support preparation for HRSA Operational Site Visits, PCMH recognition, and other accreditation and compliance requirements.
- Facilitate clinic quality check-ins, quality workgroups, and collaboration with clinicians to drive progress on quality initiatives and support continuous improvement.
- Generate routine quality reports and dashboards to inform leadership and frontline teams about trends and opportunities.
- Participate in interdisciplinary quality committees and project teams as assigned.
- Support communication between the Quality Department and clinic teams to ensure alignment of quality goals with clinical practice.
- Attend Legacy-required and relevant training sessions or activities, as assigned by the manager.
- Promote a positive and collaborative work environment supportive of Legacy’s missions and goals.
- Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members and volunteers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s level degree is required.
- CPHQ certification is required within 12 months of hire or promotion into position.

Required Years of Experience

- One (1) year of healthcare experience and one (1) year of performance improvement or quality experience is required.
- Previous experience in role where project coordination/management is required.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

- Two (2) years of experience with quality improvement, data collection, and regulatory compliance.
- CPHQ Certification
- 1 + years EPIC EMR experience
- Previous experience in Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, LVN, or RN position
- Experience with AAAHC Joint Commission or other governing body accreditation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

- Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to be socially perceptive in accepting and relaying confidential information, communicating policies and procedures, and interacting effectively.
- Excellent verbal/written English communication skills, including excellent grammatical, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other web-based applications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to facilitate staff education and support change management.
- Ability to produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
- Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work with confidential information.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

- Extensive knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system
- Strong knowledge of UDS, HEDIS, NCQA, and HRSA quality requirements.
