Service Technician – Commercial Kitchen Equipment
Restaurants, hotels, hospitals, and other businesses depend on their kitchen equipment every day. When something breaks, they need someone who can figure out what’s wrong and get it working again.
As a Service Technician, you’ll travel to customer locations to diagnose, repair, and maintain equipment such as commercial cooking equipment, refrigeration, and dishwashers. You’ll work directly with customers, explain what you find, and help them keep their kitchens running.
What you’ll do
- Troubleshoot and repair commercial kitchen and food service equipment
- Read wiring diagrams and schematics to diagnose problems
- Work with restaurant and hospitality managers to understand equipment issues and recommend repairs
- Manage your daily service schedule and complete work independently
- Participate in an emergency on-call rotation that includes nights and weekends
- Travel overnight occasionally when assigned
What you’ll need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of technical experience in refrigeration, appliance repair, kitchen equipment, HVAC, or military service
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
- Mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize service calls
Commercial cooking or refrigeration repair experience is a plus. So are relevant technical training, licenses, or certifications such as EPA or CFESA.

Physical requirements
This is a hands-on field role. You’ll frequently kneel, bend, squat, push, pull, and reach, and occasionally lift and carry up to 70 pounds. Work may involve ladders and roofs; moving parts; steam, flames, and hot surfaces; and electrical equipment in damp, humid, or freezing conditions. In rare cases, work may be performed in high or precarious locations.
