5-Star Refrigeration is looking for a technician with commercial HVAC or cold-side refrigeration experience who wants to take their skills to the next level and learn commercial rack refrigeration.

You do NOT need previous rack refrigeration experience.

If you already know your way around commercial HVAC, walk-ins, reach-ins, ice machines, or other cold-side equipment and have solid troubleshooting fundamentals, we're interested in talking to you.

We'll help you build on that experience and develop the skills needed to work on larger, more complex commercial refrigeration systems.

Location Requirement

This position supports customers throughout the Ocala / The Villages market.

Candidates must live in or between the Ocala and The Villages areas, or within a reasonable distance of this territory.

This is a field-service position and is not remote.

What You'll Do

You'll begin by putting your existing commercial HVAC/R skills to work while gaining hands-on exposure to rack refrigeration systems.

Depending on your experience, you'll:

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial refrigeration and HVAC equipment
- Service walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-ins, condensing units, evaporators, and other commercial cold-side equipment
- Learn to troubleshoot and service commercial rack refrigeration systems
- Develop your knowledge of compressors, refrigerant circuits, controls, defrost systems, cases, and related components
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration issues
- Perform leak detection, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, and system repairs
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
- Perform preventative maintenance and identify potential equipment failures
- Respond to service calls throughout the assigned territory
- Communicate with customers regarding equipment conditions and completed repairs
- Accurately document service work
- Work independently while staying connected with dispatch and the service team
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required

What We're Looking For

We're NOT looking for someone who already knows everything about rack refrigeration.

We're looking for someone who has a strong technical foundation and wants to learn.

You should have:

- Previous commercial HVAC and/or cold-side refrigeration experience
- Experience troubleshooting commercial equipment
- Basic knowledge of refrigeration principles and components
- Electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
- EPA certification
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Good communication and customer-service skills
- Willingness to learn more complex commercial refrigeration systems
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation
- Residence in or around the Ocala–The Villages territory
