Job Description

AECOM  is seeking an experienced  Railroad Track Inspector   to perform construction engineering and inspections on a variety of construction projects including railroad, bridge and highway in Connecticut. Come join our team on these exciting projects!

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

- Conduct field inspections and monitor railroad construction activities
- Gather and document field information, including workforce activities, and daily site conditions.
- Record and verify onsite equipment used for force account billing.
- Document materials delivered, installed, and incorporated into the work.
- Inspect, monitor, and document tie installation activities to verify proper placement, alignment, and quality standards.
- Inspect, monitor, and document track surfacing operations, inspect switch installation activities, verify components, assembly, and conform with the project scope of work.
- Inspect, monitor, and document rail installation operations, including rail placement, fastening systems, welding activities, and final track configuration.
- Maintain detailed daily inspection reports, photographic records, and field documentation of work progress.
- Identify and report deficiencies, non-conforming work, safety concerns, and potential schedule impacts to project management.
- Capable of performing office and administrative duties during downtime to support daily operations.
- Prepare and complete detailed inspection reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized records and ensure all reports meet company standards and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- HS Diploma and 4 years of related railroad construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Proven experience in performing inspections on railroad construction projects.
- Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
- As a condition of employment, candidate must pass a drug screening.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed for projects, including overnight work.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 49 CFR FRA 213.7 Certified or ability to achieve certification.
- Experience working with the Connecticut Dept. of Transportation (CTDOT), Metro-North, or Amtrak.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
