Cloud Software Engineer

SAIC’s is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer with strong development experience to contribute to designing, building, and maintaining modern, cloud‑native applications and tools that will expand the scale and accelerate the pace of our research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) supporting national security clients. This role offers the opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, data scientists, and AI scientists and contribute to innovative technology development and experimentation.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with senior software engineers to develop and deploy cloud‑native applications and microservices on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform.
- Maintain well documented, formatted, and version controlled code and participate in code review.
- Develop custom APIs and microservices, including containerization, where appropriate.
- Create code to process data stored in both relational and NoSQL databases.
- Facilitate seamless code promotion from development to production by resolving technical issues identified by testing.
- Contribute to implementing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code and Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Contribute to secure code development by following DevSecOps best practices.
- Support cross‑functional teams by delivering high‑quality software products that meet changing research needs and client requirements.

Required:

- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with 2+ years of experience or MS (4 years experience in lieu of degree)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance requiring U.S. Citizenship.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Technical Requirements

- Strong experience with Java Spring Boot and at least one other language (e.g., GO, Python).
- Strong experience using AWS CLI and AWS SDK.
- Experience deploying and configuring software on AWS cloud services.
- Experience implementing APIs including REST, Swagger, and associated tools.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher, Helm, and ECS.
- Experience with databases such as AWS RDS, AWS DynamoDB, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with AI-assisted development.
- Experience with agile software development and tools such as Atlassian Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or similar.
- Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Understanding with event‑driven systems or distributed architectures.
- Understanding of infrastructure as code, including tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines using tools like AWS CodePipeline.
- Familiarity with identity management principles and tools such as AWS IAM, Cognito and OKTA.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps best-practices in cloud security and compliance.
