Installation Site Inspector & DMIR

Summary

Performs inspection of company-produced aircraft products and associated documentation, completes first article inspection reports, performs receiving inspection as required, records data, prepares formal reports, and completes FAA and customer-required certification documents. Performs conformity certification tasks on behalf of the FAA.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Inspector

- Inspects company-produced aircraft products and associated documentation.

- Performs receiving inspection.

- Performs inspections on laboratory test samples.

- Completes first article inspection reports.

- Records data and prepares formal reports.

- Performs in process and final inspections.

- Assists with internal quality system audits when requested.

- Completes FAA and customer-required certification documents.

- Prepares inspection plans and instructions.

- Selects sampling plan applications.

- Analyzes and resolves customer related corrective actions.

- Analyzes quality costs and other quality data.

- Provides technical support to internal and mod center quality control, material, production and other department personnel.

- Identifies and recognizes process errors and initiates resolution using the appropriate quality forms.

- Supports customer reviews and meetings as required.

- Meets target hours and completes tasks to support aircraft mod schedule.

- Maintains a neat, organized work area and helps with the general daily housekeeping of the department.

- Maintains regular attendance including being at work, being on time to work and working full shifts.

- Other duties as assigned.

Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR)

- Assumes responsibility for performing authorized functions (i.e. part and installation conformity inspections), concerning products and/or articles, as produced and controlled by their employer’s production approval.

- Provides conformity inspection information to managing office in accordance with required schedule.

- Performs authorized functions in accordance with FAA directives, pertinent regulations, and any specific instructions conveyed by their managing office(s).

- The DMIR will maintain sound judgment and is empowered to administer relevant FAA regulations effectively without undue pressure or influence from Greenpoint organizational elements.

- Performs functions only within the limits of their FAA authority.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification

- High school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of three years of recent experience in either:

- Making conformity determinations or managing programs involving the determination that articles conform to the proposed type design; or

- Applying quality control methods and techniques to determine whether prototype articles conform to type design.

Experience should include knowledge of FAA-approved data, first article, in-process, and final assembly inspections; quality assurance requirements for special processes; destructive and nondestructive inspection methods; manufacturing processes; airworthiness assurance; development and implementation of quality control systems and procedures; and testing procedures.

Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally as part of an established and growing team.

- Familiar with Aerospace quality terms and concepts.

- Knowledge of aircraft parts and assembly.

- Strong communication, time-management and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineer drawings and additional customer supplied data.

- Designees must be familiar with and have ready access to all appropriate FAA publications and documents.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

- Knowledgeable in mathematical operations and performing measurement conversions.

- Ability to identify the difference between accuracy and precision.

- Ability to use measuring devices required to complete inspection activities.

- Familiar with GD&T, and recognition of basic NDT terminology.

- General knowledge of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 and AS9100.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.

- Ability to communicate in English (read, write and verbally communicate).

- Ability to travel as required.

- Ability to work outside of core business hours as required.

Physical Requirements

- Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.

- Able to lift 25 lbs. without assistance/able to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance.

- Able to reach overhead.

- Able to work in a non-dust-free environment.

- Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).

- Full range of motion with both hands.

- Can work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.

The expected WA salary range for this position is between $90,000.00 - $124,000.00 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, location, and other factors permitted by law.
