Class A Boiler Operator

Seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Class A Boiler Operator for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Memphis, TN.

Schedule: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
Compensation: $28.00–$32.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, pneumatic equipment, conveyor systems, production machinery, and other mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using mechanical diagrams, schematics, manuals, manufacturer specifications, and testing instruments.
- Inspect equipment and identify sources of mechanical issues through observation, testing, and precision measurements.
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and replace defective components using hand and power tools.
- Measure and evaluate parts using calipers, micrometers, rules, and other precision instruments.
- Adjust and align mechanical components and control devices using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Fabricate or modify repair parts using machine shop equipment and instrumentation when needed.
- Perform routine inspections and actively patrol the assigned building to identify and address potential equipment issues before failures occur.
- Support plant uptime goals and respond promptly to maintenance calls and equipment issues.
- Communicate major equipment or operational issues to the Chief Engineer and Production Manager and assist with resolution.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation.
- Monitor maintenance parts and supply inventories and coordinate ordering and replenishment as needed.
- Communicate maintenance activities, equipment conditions, and outstanding issues effectively with maintenance and production teams.
- Work closely with production personnel to promote proper equipment operation and preventive maintenance practices.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Attend training and maintain current knowledge of maintenance practices, equipment, and technologies.

- Remain flexible to work beyond scheduled hours when equipment issues or operational needs require additional support.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Class A Boiler Operator experience/qualification required for the position.
- Previous experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance required.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Experience working with conveyors, motors, pneumatic systems, production machinery, and related mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, diagrams, manuals, and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Must follow company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards.
