Job Title: Baseball Performance Associate

Reports To: Director, Performance Science
JOB SUMMARY:
The Baseball Performance Associate will assist with the delivery of Performance Science solutions within Baseball Operations. This role will work closely with Baseball Analytics, Player Development, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Rehab, and Coaching staffs to optimize performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with implementation and maintenance of existing Performance Science initiatives across the organization, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Set up, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot all technologies used within Performance Science, particularly those used in player assessments to ensure accurate data collection.
- Effectively collaborate and communicate with Player Development, Coaching, Sports Medicine, Strength and Conditioning, and Front Office staff.
- Assist with data management, organization, and integration into the organization’s internal databases.
- Perform exploratory Performance Science research projects and analysis using a combination of biomechanical and applied performance data as directed.
- Work closely with the Performance Science staff to develop and disseminate information from Performance Science initiatives.
- Assist with the maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of Performance Science related equipment.
- Other duties as directed by Director, Performance Science.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, exercise physiology, sports science, kinesiology, biomechanics, or similar field. Certifications (CSCS, CPSS, etc.) are a plus but not required.
- Experience with the following technologies preferred but not required: Vald products, force plates, motion capture, high-speed video, Trackman, Trajekt, Catapult, Pulse.
- The ideal candidate has strong computer skills. Coding (R or Python), SQL skills, and data visualization skills a plus, but not required.
- The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills. Candidate must be able to convey complex Performance Science findings to relevant staffs.
- The ideal candidate must have excellent attention to detail.
- The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational skills.
- Previous experience working with professional athletes and coaches a plus.
- The ideal candidate must be willing to work long hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The candidate must be available full-time.
- Spanish fluency a plus, but not required.
- Willing and able to relocate to the Lakeland, FL area, Detroit metro area, Toledo, OH area, or Dominican Republic area.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office, lab, or field/gym environment – dependent upon role.
- Evening, weekend, and holiday hours required.
