Block Plant Manager - Smyrna, TN

About the Opportunity

SRM Materials is seeking a hands-on Block Plant Manager to lead daily operations at our concrete block manufacturing facility. In this role, you’ll oversee production, quality control, maintenance coordination, and team development while maintaining a safe, efficient, and organized plant.

Your Mission & Key Responsibilities

- Lead daily plant operations: Oversee concrete block production, staffing, scheduling, quality control, maintenance coordination, and housekeeping to support dependable plant performance.

- Put safety first: Promote and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements while setting a strong example for your team.

- Plan for production success: Align production schedules with customer demand, delivery commitments, inventory needs, and product quality standards.

- Keep equipment running: Monitor plant equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and maintain reliable operations.

- Build a strong team: Train, coach, and develop machine operators and plant team members. Set clear expectations and address performance, attendance, and safety concerns promptly and fairly.

- Maintain product quality: Inspect concrete blocks and monitor manufacturing processes to ensure finished concrete masonry units (CMUs) meet required specifications and quality expectations.

- Manage materials and inventory: Monitor raw materials, molds, pallets, and finished-product inventory to keep production supplied and organized.

- Track and improve performance: Maintain accurate production, downtime, and labor records. Communicate results, operational needs, and improvement opportunities to leadership.

- Take pride in the facility: Maintain a clean, organized, and professional plant while ensuring equipment is properly operated and cared for.

- Collaborate across teams: Work closely with maintenance, dispatch, sales, and leadership to support customer service, timely deliveries, and plant operating goals.

What Sets You Apart

- Previous leadership experience in concrete block manufacturing, concrete products, manufacturing, or industrial operations preferred.

- Strong knowledge of production equipment, preventive maintenance practices, and workplace safety.

- Ability to lead, coach, and hold team members accountable while promoting respect and teamwork.

- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical approach to equipment issues and production challenges.

- Clear communication and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate people, materials, and changing priorities.

- A hands-on leadership style and the flexibility to adapt to changing production needs in a fast-paced environment.

- Commitment to product quality, dependable service, and continuous improvement.

- Ability to perform essential job duties, including walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs, with or without reasonable accommodation.

- Ability to work in a plant and outdoor yard environment around equipment, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions.
