Job Purpose
As the Principal Scientist for R&D Knowledge and Information Excellence, you will serve as the subject-matter expert and capability leader for R&D knowledge management, information lifecycle, and data analytics. You will define and advance modern, scalable approaches that connect product information, institutional knowledge, analytics, and emerging technologies to improve decision-making, productivity, and business performance across R&D. Through technical leadership, scientist oversight, and cross-functional influence, you will translate complex business needs into sustainable knowledge, data, and information solutions while strengthening R&D capabilities and accelerating adoption.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Lead R&D capability development for knowledge and information management practices and digital solutions that enable establishing standards and scalable approaches that improve R&D operations.
- Partner with global and cross-functional stakeholders to identify complex business needs and lead the development of targeted solutions supporting product and packaging development, cost optimization, sustainability, regulatory compliance, and other strategic priorities.
- Integrate and interpret complex data from multiple systems, translating findings into visualizations, reports, insights, and recommendations that enable action-oriented recommendations and measurable business outcomes.
- Design and implement scalable data engineering, programming, and automation solutions that simplify data acquisition, analysis, reporting, and access for users.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize digital, AI, and machine-learning for knowledge and information use cases, partnering with appropriate stakeholders to translate high-value opportunities into practical R&D solutions.
- Establish and sustain governance for R&D institutional knowledge, ensuring that critical scientific and technical information is preserved, searchable, accessible, and effectively reused.
- Lead capability building and adoption for knowledge-management, analytics, and digital tools through training, consultation, communities of practice, and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
- Monitor solution adoption and business impact, using performance measures and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve R&D knowledge and information capabilities.
Expected Experience & Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in information management, computer science, data science, engineering, business, or a related field, with 6 or more years of relevant experience in data analytics, knowledge management, digital transformation, R&D systems, or a related technical field. A master’s degree or advanced technical qualification is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in data analytics, knowledge management, data engineering, or digital transformation within R&D or another technical environment.
- Strong communication, analytical thinking, process design, visualization, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and collaborate with others, driving results through influence and subject matter expertise.
- Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable data, analytics, automation, or digital solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex priorities and communicate recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more Microsoft data and Power Platform tools, with working knowledge of Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, Excel, and Power Pivot.
- Working proficiency in programming and data technologies such as SQL and Python.
- Familiarity with SAP, product lifecycle management systems, and global specification and data processes.
- Strong understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-learning concepts, with demonstrated interest in applying emerging technologies to business and R&D challenges.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, Snowflake, ServiceNow, electronic laboratory notebooks, and regulatory landscape product-development environments is preferred.
Work Environment & Schedule
This position operates primarily in a hybrid work environment and is based at the Kraft Heinz R&D Innovation Center in Glenview, IL. Our hybrid model provides flexibility based on business needs, allowing employees to work virtually up to two days per week, with an expectation to work on-site at least three days per week at the Glenview Innovation Center.

New Hire Base Salary Range:
$104,200.00 - $130,200.00
Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
