Location/Division Specific Information:

The Component Preparation Technician supports manufacturing operations by ensuring equipment, filters, components, and manufacturing materials are properly prepared and available for use. This position works in a regulated manufacturing environment and plays an important role in maintaining operational readiness and compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

How Will You Make an Impact?:

As a Component Preparation Technician, you will help ensure manufacturing teams have properly cleaned, tested, prepared, and documented equipment and materials needed to execute production activities. Your attention to quality, safety, and compliance will directly support reliable manufacturing operations and the delivery of products that meet our customers’ needs.

A Day in the Life:

- Perform integrity testing and other required testing of filters in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Wash, clean, sanitize, and prepare manufacturing equipment, components, utensils, and related items for use in production.
- Prepare, stage, assemble, and distribute manufacturing materials and components according to production schedules and approved procedures.
- Operate component preparation and cleaning equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety requirements.
- Inspect equipment, components, and materials before and after preparation to verify cleanliness, condition, identification, and readiness for use.
- Complete batch records, equipment logs, cleaning records, filter testing documentation, and other required GMP documentation accurately and in real time.
- Maintain appropriate status identification and segregation of clean, dirty, prepared, and unprepared equipment and materials.
- Follow established cGMP, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and site procedures.
- Identify and promptly communicate equipment issues, testing failures, material discrepancies, documentation errors, and other conditions that could affect manufacturing operations.
- Support investigations, corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs), continuous improvement activities, and inspection or audit readiness as required.
- Maintain Component Preparation work areas in a clean, safe, organized, and inspection-ready condition.
- Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse, and other support functions to ensure materials and equipment are prepared according to production needs.
- Assist with inventory control and replenishment of commonly used manufacturing components and supplies.
- Perform additional duties and manufacturing support activities as assigned.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a manufacturing, operations, production, laboratory, or related environment.

Preferred: Experience working in a cGMP-regulated manufacturing environment, pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing, component preparation, equipment cleaning, or similar production support function.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

- Ability to follow written SOPs, work instructions, batch records, and established manufacturing procedures accurately.
- Understanding of cGMP principles and Good Documentation Practices, or the ability to learn and consistently apply these requirements.
- Ability to perform filter testing and operate cleaning, preparation, and other manufacturing support equipment after completing required training and qualification.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify equipment, component, material, or documentation discrepancies.
- Ability to accurately complete manufacturing records, equipment logs, and other controlled documentation.
- Ability to prioritize work and support production schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong organizational skills and commitment to maintaining clean and orderly work areas.
- Ability to communicate effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, Warehouse, and other cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn applicable electronic manufacturing, inventory, or documentation systems.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

This position is performed in a regulated manufacturing environment and requires adherence to applicable gowning, personal protective equipment (PPE), safety, and contamination-control requirements.

The employee may be required to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions; and handle manufacturing equipment and components throughout the shift. The role may require lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving materials and equipment in accordance with site-specific safety requirements and established lifting limits.

The position may involve working with cleaning and sanitizing agents, wet equipment, pressurized systems, and other manufacturing equipment. Employees must follow all applicable EHS procedures and wear required PPE. Work schedules may include shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, or schedule adjustments based on manufacturing requirements.

Compensation and Benefits
The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in New York is $16.10–$24.15.
