Our challenge

We are seeking an OpenShift & MCP Platform Engineer to support application teams in deploying and managing applications on OpenShift and Model Context Protocol (MCP) infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role embedded within the development team, focused on platform enablement, application onboarding, CI/CD configuration, and developer productivity rather than traditional DevOps operations.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $110k - $115k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

- Configure and manage application deployments on OpenShift.
- Create and maintain YAML configurations, deployment manifests, and application templates.
- Support application onboarding to CI/CD pipelines and deployment frameworks.
- Set up and manage MCP infrastructure and connectivity for AI-enabled applications.
- Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot deployment, configuration, and integration issues.
- Manage application configuration, secrets, routes, services, and container deployments.
- Assist with environment setup, release deployments, and platform automation.
- Ensure applications comply with enterprise security and platform standards.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in application deployment, platform support, or DevOps engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes container platforms.
- Strong knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift concepts.
- Experience creating and managing YAML configuration files, deployment manifests, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Services, and Routes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and deployment automation frameworks such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Experience supporting application onboarding, release management, and deployment processes across multiple environments.
- Knowledge of MCP (Model Context Protocol) infrastructure and connectivity for AI-enabled applications is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve deployment, configuration, and integration issues.
- Understanding of networking, load balancing, container security, and enterprise platform standards.
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and shell scripting.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar is an advantage.
- Familiarity with enterprise security practices, access controls, vulnerability management, and compliance requirements.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with development, infrastructure, and support teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Preferred, but not required:

- Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Cloud Platform certifications.
- Experience with AI/ML application deployment and platform integration.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, or Dynatrace.
