Quality Control Inspector - Electrical - Industrial East

Reporting to the Quality Lead, the Quality Control Inspector (Electrical) works closely with the construction execution team and site supervision to ensure all work performed by Bird Construction complies with applicable company, client, regulatory, and code requirements. This role is responsible for performing inspections, verifying compliance, and supporting the implementation of the project quality program.

This position is based in Pickering, Ontario.

What You Will Be Working On

- Identify inspection, testing, and examination requirements to support the development of Construction Inspection and Test Plans in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements.
- Perform and oversee electrical inspections on construction and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with approved design specifications, codes, and quality standards.
- Perform and document inspections of high and low electrical materials, components, and equipment in accordance with applicable code of construction and customer requirements per Construction Inspection and Test Plans.
- Perform electrical testing activities, including insulation resistance (megger) testing, continuity checks, and other applicable verification methods.
- Review and verify drawings, specifications, test reports, and inspection records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Monitor field construction activities to confirm that electrical work is performed safely and in accordance with approved procedures, specifications, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, QA teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to address inspection findings and resolve technical issues.
- Participate in coordination and quality meetings, providing technical input and recommendations related to electrical systems and inspection activities.
- Prepare and issue detailed inspection reports, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and supporting documentation to track quality performance and compliance.
- Identify, document, and track deficiencies and punch list items, ensuring timely resolution in coordination with construction teams.
- Maintain awareness of project progress, inspection schedules, and quality metrics, and provide updates to project leadership as required.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field teams based on sound knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and inspection practices.

What We Are Looking For

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology, Quality, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in electrical inspection or QA/QC roles, preferably within industrial or nuclear construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards (e.g., Canadian Electrical Code, CSA standards) and familiarity with the Ontario Building Code (OBC).
- Proven ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and inspection documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with MS Project, SharePoint, and electronic quality/document management systems is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple inspection activities under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and client representatives.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality assurance principles, and continuous improvement.
- License Journeyperson Electrician (309 or equivalent) is considered as asset.
