Engineering Technician

Our client, a leader in the electronics industry, is looking for an Engineering Technician to join their team on a contract basis in Mississauga. Description: The candidate will work in a Mechanical Engineering Research & Development (R&D) laboratory, supporting the Product Development Life Cycle through the execution of a variety of laboratory testing and validation activities. Responsibilities include verifying handheld products, recording test results, conducting product verification, and supporting design changes. The candidate will collaborate with engineers and technicians to perform mechanical testing and evaluation of products. Key Responsibilities:

- Validate test parameters and equipment calibration.
- Identify, document, and report product or equipment failures.
- Adjust, repair, and maintain testing equipment as required.
- Monitor equipment performance and test progress.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose routine issues related to test processes and laboratory equipment by following established procedures and documented methods.
- Perform environmental, mechanical, dynamic, reliability, and functional testing on mobile computing products and systems at both the complete product and individual component levels.
- Execute testing in accordance with predefined test plans, work instructions, industry standards, and verbal or written requirements.
- Document test results, prepare test reports, and issue non-conformance reports when required.
- Interface with internal customers and provide regular project status updates.
- Assist Product Development Engineers with diagnosing and reproducing product failures, analyzing test results, and making recommendations for corrective actions.
- Ensure testing activities are completed in a timely manner for each design revision.
- Set up, modify, and develop standard or custom mechanical fixtures and test equipment to meet project-specific testing requirements.
- Troubleshoot, set up, and maintain laboratory equipment and machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Ensure all testing activities, results, and project documentation are accurately recorded and maintained.

Additional Skills & Qualifications MUST HAVE 1 - Degree or diploma in mechanical engineering. Person must have a solid mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with power/hand tools MUST HAVE 2 - Previous experience running basic mechanical tests on products (physical, stress, impact, and environment) MUST HAVE 3 - Skill in understanding mechanical engineering technical drawings, and basic proficiency in using AutoCAD or 3D design software MUST HAVE 4 - Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, calibration and measurement methodology Experience Level Entry Level

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
