Remote EDI Specialist (Manufacturing)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced EDI Specialist to support and maintain electronic data interchange (EDI) processes for a growing manufacturing organization. This individual will be responsible for managing EDI transactions, troubleshooting integration issues, coordinating with customers, suppliers, and third-party providers, and ensuring the accurate flow of business-critical data. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with EDI transaction sets 810 (Invoice), 855 (Purchase Order Acknowledgment), and 856 (Advance Ship Notice) within a manufacturing or supply chain environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Monitor, support, and troubleshoot daily EDI transactions between customers, suppliers, and internal systems.
- Manage and maintain EDI transaction sets, including: 810 Invoice
- 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgment
- 856 Advance Ship Notice (ASN)

- Investigate and resolve EDI mapping, translation, and data integrity issues.
- Work closely with supply chain, customer service, shipping, accounting, and IT teams to ensure accurate transaction processing.
- Coordinate onboarding and testing of new trading partners.
- Analyze EDI errors, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Support EDI integrations with ERP systems and third-party EDI providers.
- Validate inbound and outbound data to ensure compliance with customer and vendor requirements.
- Document EDI processes, procedures, and trading partner specifications.
- Assist with process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce transaction failures.
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT), system upgrades, and EDI enhancement projects.

Required Qualifications

- 3+ years of EDI experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain environment.
- Strong understanding of EDI concepts, standards, and transaction processing.
- Hands-on experience supporting 810, 855, and 856 transaction sets .
- Experience working with trading partners, EDI providers, and business stakeholders.
- Ability to troubleshoot EDI errors and resolve issues independently.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with additional transaction sets such as 850, 940, 945, or 997.
- Knowledge of ANSI X12 standards.
- Experience working with EDI platforms such as OpenText, SPS Commerce, TrueCommerce, Cleo, IBM Sterling, or Seeburger.
- Prior experience supporting manufacturing operations, logistics, inventory management, or order fulfillment processes.
- Familiarity with API, XML, or system integration technologies.
