This position is responsible for brine/blend operations, maintaining a safe work environment, and complying with company standards. Responsible for making product brines, which consists of adding dry and wet ingredients to a brine tank and following a batch sheet to ensure proper product mixtures. Follows batch sheet instructions to properly produce product and complete all necessary documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) and procedures are followed to safeguard workers from the release of hazardous energy. Is an Authorized Employee who locks out and tags out equipment for cleaning, repairing, servicing, setting up, or adjusting operations. Understand job hazards and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for the safe usage of the specific Hazardous Energy Control Procedures for the equipment.
Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machine. Weigh or measure ingredients to meet requirements. Mix or blend ingredients by starting machine and mixing for specified times. Tends machine to comply with product specifications and batch requirements.
Prepares brine solution for use in food products. Operate pumps or valves to transfer solution from mixing machine to other operational tanks. Clean machinery and equipment as directed. Monitor information to detect or assess problems. Request transfer of needed materials between work areas.
Communicates with supervisors and coworkers as needed. Continuously evaluates information and ingredients to determine compliance with operating standards. Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with customer specifications, regulations, or standards. Records operational or production data on specified forms.
Supports and complies with all policies and procedures that ensure food safety, including cleanliness and housekeeping in all work areas. This includes responsibility for Safe Quality Food (SQF) for BRC compliance, HACCP, CCP tasks, sanitation, and all support program implementation.
Education/Experience:
Preferably a high school diploma or equivalent, and one (1) years’ experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a food-processing environment or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Good reading, writing, basic math, communication, and organizational skills.
Must be able to stand a minimum of eight hours and continuously lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. May help lift up to 80 lbs. with assistance.
Must be able to understand basic instructions in English from supervision.
