This role demands a leader who can navigate complex technical challenges, influence broadly, and ensure our technology stack is a competitive differentiator for Ford Pro Integrated Services.
Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite 4 or more days per week.

You'll have...

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Experience

- 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, with at least 3+ years in a lead architecture or engineering management role focused on large-scale distributed systems. Proven track record of designing, building, and scaling complex, high-performance, highly available software platforms in a cloud-native environment (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Demonstrated expertise in modern architectural patterns, including microservices, event-driven architectures, and API design principles.
- Significant experience with frontend architectural patterns, specifically micro frontends, and their implementation for large-scale, unified user experiences.
- Deep understanding of data modeling, database technologies (relational and NoSQL), and data migration strategies for complex systems.
- Prior experience transitioning internal tools or platforms to external-facing, multi-tenant products is highly desirable.
- Experience with strategic partner integrations, including defining robust API strategies and managing external technical dependencies.
- Exposure to data platforms or analytics architecture (for example, partnering with data engineering teams on pipelines, telemetry, or reporting infrastructure) is a plus, but not required.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go, and related frameworks.
- Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Expertise in designing for security, observability, and operational excellence.
- Strong expertise (5+ years preferred) designing and building complex single-page applications and user interfaces using React, Next.js, and similar frameworks.
- Familiarity with data platform concepts, such as streaming/event platforms and cloud data warehouses, sufficient to collaborate effectively with data engineering partners.

- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to translate complex business challenges into clear technical solutions.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop senior engineering talent.
- Pragmatic approach to architecture, balancing innovation with practical implementation constraints and business needs.

- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
- Hands-on experience with data platform technologies (e.g., Kafka/Event Hub, BigQuery, or equivalent cloud-native data services)
- Experience with analytics/BI enablement, such as data modeling for reporting or exposing data via APIs for dashboards
- Experience with machine learning/predictive analytics integration (e.g., predictive maintenance, fleet utilization forecasting) within a product architecture
- Background partnering with data science teams to productionize models within a microservices/event-driven architecture

This position is a range of salary grade Leadership Level 6: $132,800 – $250,800

*Note: This is a hybrid role, you are expected to relocate if you are not within commutable distance, and responsible to be on site 4 days a week. Exceptional candidates will be considered as Remote.
