The Opportunity
Abbott's Rapid & Molecular Diagnostics (RMDx) business is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director, Marketing to lead the Marketing function supporting the Toxicology, Workplace & eScreen portfolio.
This role represents a significant investment in accelerating business growth and market leadership by creating dedicated Marketing capabilities. The Director will establish the strategic marketing vision, drive business performance, optimize portfolio growth, and build a high-performing team focused on advancing both product and service offerings.
The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the Toxicology, Workplace & eScreen leadership team and have strong understanding of SaaS, platform-based solutions, and digital customer engagement strategies. In addition, this leader will partner extensively across Commercial Operations, Product Management, Digital Solutions (IT), Medical/Scientific Affairs, Finance, Client Success, and Enterprise Marketing functions to deliver sustainable growth and market differentiation.
This Director will oversee marketing strategies for a diverse portfolio that includes workplace drug testing products, laboratory-based toxicology services, occupational health solutions, and eScreen digital platform capabilities.
What You'll Do
Strategic Marketing Leadership
- Develop and execute an integrated marketing strategy aligned with divisional growth objectives and long-term business plans.
- Lead market segmentation, customer targeting, value proposition development, and portfolio positioning strategies.
- Establish clear go-to-market strategies across employer, healthcare, laboratory, occupational health, government, and channel partner segments.
- Translate market insights into actionable growth initiatives that increase revenue, profitability, and market share.
- Serve as primary marketing advisor to the DVP and divisional leadership team.
Portfolio & Business Growth
- Drive growth across both recurring service revenue streams and product-based offerings.
- Evaluate portfolio performance and identify expansion opportunities through new solutions, adjacent markets, strategic partnerships, and customer innovation.
- Partner closely with Product Management to prioritize investments and commercial opportunities.
- Develop lifecycle management strategies that maximize customer adoption, retention, and utilization.
- Lead pricing, value communication, competitive positioning, and commercialization initiatives.
Customer & Market Insights
- Establish robust voice-of-customer programs to generate meaningful customer insights.
- Monitor competitive dynamics, industry trends, market intelligence, and emerging customer needs.
- Utilize data analytics to evaluate market opportunities and optimize marketing investments.
- Translate customer and market insights into actionable business recommendations.
Demand Generation & Commercial Excellence
- Lead integrated marketing campaigns designed to accelerate lead generation, customer acquisition, and revenue growth.
- Partner with Sales leadership to improve customer engagement, sales effectiveness, and commercial execution.
- Develop messaging and content strategies supporting customer education and market awareness.
- Ensure alignment between marketing initiatives and field execution.
Organizational Development
- Build and lead a dedicated Marketing organization supporting Toxicology, Workplace & eScreen.
- Establish organizational structure, capabilities, processes, and governance to support future growth.
- Develop talent strategies that attract, retain, and grow high-performing marketing professionals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, and customer-centricity.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Commercial, Finance, Operations, Digital Product (IT) teams, BHR, Legal, Regulatory, Quality, and Compliance functions.
- Lead marketing representation in strategic planning, operating reviews, and leadership forums.
- Influence enterprise-wide initiatives that impact customer experience and business growth.
- Ensure all marketing activities comply with Abbott policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive commercial, marketing, product management, or business leadership experience.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience managing managers and/or professional teams.
- Proven experience developing and executing enterprise-level marketing strategies.
- Demonstrated success leading business growth initiatives and portfolio expansion.
- Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing budgets and investment priorities.
- Experience influencing senior leaders and driving cross-functional alignment.
- Exceptional communication, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within diagnostics, laboratory services, toxicology, occupational health, healthcare technology, digital health, healthcare services, or related industries.
- Experience supporting both product and service-based business models.
- Strong understanding of SaaS, platform-based solutions, and digital customer engagement strategies.
- Experience leading organizational transformation or building new capabilities within an established business.
- Knowledge of workforce health, workplace testing, compliance screening, and occupational health markets.
- Experience working within highly regulated healthcare environments.
Leadership Expectations
The Director, Marketing will be expected to operate as a transformational leader who can successfully establish and scale a dedicated Marketing function while driving alignment across Commercial, Product, Operations, and Corporate stakeholders. This individual must balance strategic vision with operational execution, ensuring marketing investments directly contribute to business performance, customer value creation, and long-term growth.
The role requires a leader capable of shaping the future growth strategy for the Toxicology, Workplace & eScreen business while positioning Abbott as the trusted partner of choice in workplace health, toxicology, and digital screening solutions.

The base pay for this position is
$149,300.00 – $298,700.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
