Here’s how you will make a difference in this role…
Reporting to the Head of Data and AI, you will be accountable for establishing and embedding an enterprise-wide data governance capability that enables trusted, secure and responsible use of data across MMS. You will partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to define data ownership, stewardship, policies, standards and controls, while improving data quality, metadata management and regulatory compliance.
You will lead the implementation of governance frameworks, operating models, stewardship programs, data quality initiatives and governance tooling; and be responsible for ensuring governance requirements are embedded into enterprise data platforms, analytics solutions and AI initiatives, while enabling greater transparency, accountability and value from MMS's information assets.

- Develop and maintain the enterprise Data Governance Strategy, roadmap, framework, policies and standards.
- Define and operationalise Data Owner and Data Steward accountabilities and support business areas in managing data as a strategic asset.
- Lead the enterprise Data Quality Framework by implementing controls, monitoring, issue management and remediation processes.
- Implement and maintain enterprise metadata management capabilities
- Lead the development, review and maintenance of Data Governance policies, standards, procedures and guidelines; translating business, regulatory, privacy and risk requirements into practical governance controls.
- Lead implementation and optimisation of governance tooling and capabilities and evaluate and recommend governance, metadata and data quality solutions.
- Support the implementation of AI Governance and Responsible AI frameworks, ensuring governance controls are embedded into AI, machine learning and analytics initiatives.
- Develop governance dashboards and executive reporting; monitor governance KPIs, compliance measures and risk indicators and provide assurance reporting to governance committees and leadership teams.
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Information Management, Technology, Computer Science, Business, Risk Management or a related discipline
- Significant experience leading Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality or Information Management functions within a complex or regulated organisation
- Demonstrated experience establishing governance operating models, frameworks, policies, standards and stewardship programs.
- Proven success driving governance maturity and organisational change
- Experience supporting executive and governance committees
- Hands-on experience implementing and operating Microsoft Purview or similar data governance tool would advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives and stakeholders across business and technology environments.
You will also be able to demonstrate strong technical experience across the Microsoft Azure Data & AI ecosystem, including:
o Microsoft Fabric
o Azure Data Lake Storage
o Azure Data Factory
o Azure Synapse Analytics
o Azure SQL
o Power BI
