About the Team
Our People & Culture Advisory team supports leaders and team members across stores, support offices and distribution centres. Working closely with business leaders and People & Culture colleagues, the team provides practical advice across the employment lifecycle, strengthens leader capability and supports fair, compliant and positive workplaces.
About the Role
Based at our Preston Support Office and reporting to the Head of People & Culture - Advisory, you will provide practical advice on employee relations and broader workplace matters. You will manage employee cases, coach leaders through sensitive conversations and help deliver fair, consistent and compliant people decisions that support a positive employee experience.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide timely, practical People & Culture advice to leaders and team members across the employment lifecycle.
- Manage employee relations cases involving performance, conduct, attendance, grievances, workplace conflict and other employment concerns.
- Guide leaders on employment legislation, Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, policies and procedures to support fair and compliant decisions.
- Coach leaders through workplace conversations, performance management, investigations and disciplinary processes.
- Support workplace investigations by gathering information, assessing concerns and documenting outcomes.
- Prepare accurate correspondence, meeting documentation and outcome letters, and maintain confidential case records and follow-up actions.
- Identify workplace risks, assess commercial impacts and recommend appropriate solutions, escalation and risk mitigation.
- Build trusted stakeholder relationships and collaborate with People & Culture colleagues to resolve workplace matters consistently across the business.
- Contribute to initiatives that strengthen employee relations, leader capability, workplace culture and the employee experience.
- Improve People & Culture processes, tools, policies and service delivery, keep up to date with employment requirements and uphold workplace safety practices.
Who are we looking for?
- Two years of experience in a comparable People & Culture role or field, including professional experience in the healthcare industry.
- Demonstrated employee relations experience, including end-to-end case management and workplace dispute resolution.
- Sound knowledge of employment legislation, Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements and industrial relations frameworks, with the ability to apply these in practice.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence coaching leaders through complex matters and influencing informed decisions.
- Sound judgement and commercial awareness, with the ability to assess workplace risks and recommend practical solutions.
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing cases and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using digital systems and tools.
- A professional, approachable and solutions-focused style, with empathy, resilience, integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business Management, Psychology or a related field is highly regarded.
- Experience in retail, pharmaceutical, logistics or other service-based environments, supporting a dispersed or high-volume workforce, or coaching People & Culture colleagues is highly regarded.
