About the Role
As an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Specialist, you'll be an integral part of the Mill Operations team, helping us achieve our production, safety, quality, and sustainability goals.
This is a day-based role (Monday to Friday) offering the opportunity to work across a wide range of electrical systems, instrumentation, automation equipment, and continuous improvement projects within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Reporting to the Maintenance Leader , you'll provide technical expertise, support operational performance, and drive improvements that enhance reliability across the mill.
As part of the role, you will participate in a site call-out rota , providing out-of-hours technical support when required to help maintain safe and reliable mill operations.
What You Will Do
- Provide hands-on electrical and instrumentation support and coaching to help resolve equipment and process issues.
- Support the safe and efficient operation of paper manufacturing and site utility systems.
- Diagnose, maintain, calibrate, and improve instrumentation, control systems, and process equipment.
- Participate in daily operational reviews to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Conduct root cause analysis and GAP assessments to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Lead and support medium and long-term improvement projects focused on efficiency, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to deliver sustainable solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in the site call-out rota and provide technical support to minimise downtime and restore equipment safely and effectively.
Who Are You?
- A time-served Electrical Technician with a recognised electrical apprenticeship.
- Experience within a manufacturing, FMCG, paper, tissue, or process industry environment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience working with industrial instrumentation, process control systems, drives, and automation equipment.
- Ideally experienced with Siemens control systems, PLCs, and industrial automation.
- A confident communicator who can challenge constructively and influence others.
- A proactive self-starter who works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
- Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
- Passionate about continuous improvement and operational excellence.
