Your Impact:

As a Principal Software Developer, you will define and own the target-state architecture for decomposing a monolithic .NET application into containerized modern .NET (.NET 8+) microservices deployed on a Kubernetes (Linux) platform on Google Cloud Platform (GKE). You will set technical direction, service boundaries, and standards, and guide engineering teams through highly complex design, migration, and infrastructure decisions.

What the role offers:

- Define the microservices decomposition strategy (e.g., strangler-fig pattern) and service/domain boundaries for the monolith
- Own the technical roadmap for migrating from .NET Framework to modern .NET (.NET 8+)
- Architect containerization (Docker) and Kubernetes deployment topology for Linux environments, including networking, scaling, and service mesh considerations
- Define API contracts, inter-service communication (REST/gRPC/messaging), and data ownership boundaries
- Produce high-quality architecture and design specifications; deliver POCs and estimates at short notice on technology choices
- Lead architecture/design reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards
- Set standards for observability, security, and GitLab CI/CD across all microservices
- Mentor Lead and Senior Engineers; guide them to deliver high-quality design and code
- Work across teams (including the UI/Frontend team) to ensure interoperability and integration

What you need to succeed:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 8+ years of enterprise product development/architecture experience
- Expert knowledge of C#, .NET Framework, and modern .NET (.NET 8+), with hands-on experience modernizing large enterprise applications.
- Strong hands-on experience designing microservices architectures and decomposing large monolithic systems using Domain-Driven Design and appropriate architectural patterns.
- Expert experience with Docker and Kubernetes (Helm, Ingress, ConfigMaps/Secrets) on Linux
- Strong knowledge of GitLab CI/CD pipelines, Artifactory for build/artifact and container image management, Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Strong experience with messaging and event-driven architectures using technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Excellent understanding of API design (REST/gRPC), security, and performance at enterprise scale
- Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills

Desired/Preferred skills:

- Experience with service mesh technologies (Istio/Linkerd)
- Exposure to AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot
- Content management and Capture (IDP) domain experience would be a plus
- Experience with OpenText products would be a plus
