Job Description
About the role
We want you to become part of our great team and help take precision health to the next level. In this position, you will contribute to the development of electronic hardware for the next generation of cardiovascular ultrasound products, including common premium ultrasound platforms. You will work with a highly skilled and experienced team of engineers in analog electronics, FPGA, acquisition, signal processing, systems integration, backend hardware, and mechanics.
You will work across countries and cultures with our extended international organization. Together, we have world-leading knowledge and experience in ultrasound products and continuously challenge ourselves to improve healthcare and help people in the moments that matter.
Bring strong analog hardware expertise, grow across connected technical areas, and help integrate it into a complete ultrasound system - from new product development to installed-based and reliability support.
Responsibilities
- Define circuit architectures for future ultrasound systems.
- Design complex analog and mixed-signal circuit boards based on system requirements and product needs.
- Develop electronics involving ultrasound receivers, transmitters, analog front ends, power supplies
- Optimize noise, distortion, dynamic range, phase noise, and signal integrity.
- Investigate PCB noise, power integrity, signal integrity, and thermal or electromagnetic issues.
- Support high-speed interfaces such as PCIe and JESD204.
- Perform hands-on prototyping, laboratory measurements, board bring-up, debugging, and hardware verification.
- Lead or support root-cause investigations, feasibility studies, and design trade-offs.
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and identify opportunities for improved hardware solutions.
- Contribute to design practices, documentation, quality, reliability, and lifecycle management.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge sharing within the electronics team.
- Collaborate with teams responsible for FPGA design, data acquisition, I/Q processing, software, systems engineering, mechanical design, manufacturing, quality, and service.
- Support new product development, design changes, reliability investigations, and common hardware platforms.
Required qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Several years of experience designing analog or mixed-signal electronics.
- Strong knowledge of analog electronics, mixed-signal systems, and signal integrity.
- Experience with schematics, PCB development, laboratory testing, debugging, and design verification.
- Understanding of the interaction between circuit design, PCB layout, noise, power integrity, and signal integrity.
- Familiarity with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe or JESD204.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work at both system level and detailed circuit level.
- Strong teamwork, coordination, and communication skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience designing electronics for ultrasound, medical devices, imaging systems, instrumentation, or other high-reliability products.
- Experience designing analog circuits such as filters, amplifiers, receivers, transmitters, or power-conversion circuits.
- Experience collaborating with PCB layout engineers.
- Knowledge of IEC 60601-1 or similar safety standards.
- Experience with regulated product development, design controls, quality, and reliability processes.
- Experience with mixed-signal systems, high-speed data acquisition, FPGA interfaces, or embedded hardware.
- Experience working in an international engineering organization.
What we offer
- The opportunity to develop technology used in cardiovascular healthcare.
- Work with experienced engineers across analog, digital, FPGA, software, systems, and mechanics.
- A collaborative international working environment.
- Opportunities to collaborate with colleagues across countries and disciplines.
- Opportunities for technical growth through GE HealthCare’s technical career path.
- The chance to contribute to future ultrasound platforms and products.
