About this role

Arm's Budapest Software team is looking for highly motivated Graduate Engineers to work across the software stack, including firmware, operating systems, device drivers, compilers, runtimes and middleware.

This role is ideal for graduates who enjoy developing high-performance software for Arms advanced architectures, CPUs, system IP, and integrated sub-systems, exploring firmware and OS interactions, bringing up a new development board, and understanding how system architecture affects performance.

About The Team:

Our Software group develops and improves the software ecosystem around Arm's next generation of applications processors. We work with development platforms, software models, FPGAs and early silicon, often before the technology is publicly available.

Team is a multi-site team of Software Engineers who all share a passion for wanting to stamp their mark on the future of computing, wherever it may lead. In case you are similarly passionate about groundbreaking technologies, then we want to hear from you!

What you could be doing:

Graduates will join experienced engineering teams, contributing to existing projects while exploring and prototyping ideas for the future. With support from a mentor and the wider team, youll gain hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle.

Tasks vary by team need and are continuously updated to reflect priorities, graduates typically work on investigating the feasibility of ideas, extending specific features, comparative analysis of multiple potential solutions and analysing root causes of reported behaviours. Most roles will offer opportunities to upstream your code into an Open Source project.

We are looking for individuals who:

Hold (or are on track to hold) a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree by the programme start date, with relevant experience.

- A real passion for computing that goes way beyond your studies
- A problem-solving approach with strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Creativity and clear communication skills in English
- A dedicated, self-motivated demeanor with a strong desire to learn
- Experience with C/C++; assembly skills are desirable
- Familiarity with performance optimisations and how the CPU and Systems architecture impacts software performance
- Knowledge of at least one CPU architecture and architectural features, such as pipelines, caches, MMUs, Interrupt Controllers, timers

Qualities that will help your application stand out:

- Open source project contributions
- Linux, operating systems, device drivers, or middleware development (including Android, ChromeOS, Red Hat, and Debian)
- Compiler technologies, JIT compilers, runtimes, or performance optimisation
- Embedded systems and RTOS development (e.g. Zephyr, FreeRTOS)
- Programming, debugging, testing, and verification, including experience with hardware/software debuggers, assembly, Rust, Python, Java, or shell scripting
- Automation, DevOps, and CI/CD tools and frameworks

Additional Information:

Please note that relocation support is available for this role for domestic moves within the country and regional moves within Europe. Visa sponsorship support is also available for candidates who require it.

In Return:

Youll receive a starting salary of HUF 10,950,000 per annum alongside a comprehensive rewards package. As you develop in role, youll have clear opportunities to progress within the salary range at Arm. With mid-year and year-end reviews, youll have two formal progression windows each year, recognising your growth.
