About the role....
Are you interested in joining the finance department of a cutting-edge Space Systems company? Looking for a role involving face-to-face meetings and working with people from a variety of departments (eg - engineering and procurement)? Interested in learning about space and satellites?
This role will suit someone at a Professional or Early Careers stage, who wants to gain or enhance their Stock Management experience. You will join a team of ~10 people and partner with various stakeholders and work on the full inventory life cycle for Telecoms satellites and major space systems programmes.
For the right candidate the career path for this role could be to step into a Project Controller role on a larger programme.
How you will contribute to the team…
- Execute month-end cycle processes, including journalling, data verification, and assessing cash-flow & balance sheet impacts of fluctuating inventory levels.
- Conduct detailed analysis on inventory accounts driven by procurement activities, including forecasting expected inventory levels.
- Provide actionable commercial insight to the business through targeted financial reporting and analysis, including identification of inventory risks and opportunities
- Maintain and continuously improve the stock financial management process and tools
- Drive budgeting and forecasting activity in alignment with the company's 5-year business plan & quarterly rolling forecasts.
- Fulfil specific audit requirements and answer queries for both internal and external auditors.
About you?
- Comfortable working with both financial and non-financial departments. Proven experience in translating accounting data into meaningful information for the operational business
- Stock control background such as automotive, aerospace, defence, maritime, construction, railways, transportation or similar
- Looking for a role that combines conventional stock control techniques with financial accounting, forecasting, and revenue recognition compliance, using a combination of IAS 2 and IFRS 15 financial accounting standards
- Comfortable working with inventory stock including items ranging from £thousands-£millions with lead times of 3-4 months to 2-3 years.
