Role Overview

The Facilities Team Member supports the care, maintenance, safety, and readiness of The Cross Church facilities, grounds, vehicles, and other physical assets. This position helps ensure church environments are safe, functional, welcoming, and prepared to support ministry activities, church events, and community use.
The Facilities Team Member contributes to The Cross Church’s high-performance culture and mission to “Spread God’s Fame by Making Disciples of All People.” This position reports to the Campus and Technology Director and works collaboratively with staff, volunteers, vendors, and contractors.

Full-time; non-exempt with benefits
Schedule

40 hours per week.  The position requires flexibility in scheduling and may include occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, Sundays, holidays, or response to urgent facility needs.
Responsibilities and Expectations

·         Perform and assist with preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance of church facilities, grounds, equipment, vehicles, and other assets.
·         Troubleshoot and complete maintenance requests and facility repairs within the Facilities Team’s scope of expertise, including general building maintenance and minor HVAC, plumbing, electrical, custodial, landscaping, security, and safety-related work.
·         Identify maintenance or repair needs that require outside expertise and assist in coordinating appropriate service providers.
·         Set up and tear down furniture, equipment, and other resources for worship services, ministry activities, meetings, campus events, and community events.
·         Install and repair fixtures, equipment, furnishings, and other facility components as needed.
·         Perform routine facility inspections and promptly identify and report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, equipment failures, or other facility needs.
·         Represent The Cross Church professionally when working with service providers, vendors, contractors, and community partners.
·         Assist with oversight of vendor and contractor work to help ensure services are completed appropriately and church facilities and resources are protected.
·         Manage thermostats and building systems according to approved facility schedules and ministry needs.
·         Safely operate power equipment, carpet extractors, pressure washers, hand and power tools, lifts, and church vehicles as authorized and appropriate.
·         Follow established safety procedures and appropriate practices when using tools, equipment, chemicals, vehicles, ladders, lifts, and other facility resources.
·         Assist with vehicle maintenance, inspections, registration, repairs, and general fleet readiness.
·         Secure buildings and access points when facilities are not in use and follow established security and access-control procedures.
·         Maintain appropriate organization and inventory of tools, equipment, maintenance supplies, and facility resources.
·         Steward church property and resources with care, including furniture, fixtures, equipment, vehicles, tools, supplies, and facilities.
·         Maintain accurate and timely documentation of maintenance requests, completed work, inspections, and other facility information as required.
·         Attend staff meetings, Facilities Team meetings, and other meetings as requested.
·         Maintain cooperative, healthy, and productive relationships with staff, volunteers, church members, guests, and ministry partners.
·         Collaborate with the Facilities Team and other ministry teams to support the overall mission, ministry priorities, and operational needs of the church.
·         Respond with flexibility to changing priorities and facility needs.
·         Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills

·         Agreement with The Cross Church’s statement of faith and mission to “Spread God’s Fame by Making Disciples of All People.”
·         Commitment to biblical Christian principles and teachings both personally and professionally.
·         Established pattern of Bible study, prayer, and spiritual growth.
·         The Cross Church membership is expected.
·         High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
·         Valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
·         General knowledge and experience in building maintenance and repair.
·         Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) knowledge or experience preferred.
·         HVAC knowledge or experience preferred.
·         Welding knowledge and experience is a plus.
·         CDL or other applicable certifications are a plus.
·         Ability to troubleshoot problems, determine appropriate solutions, and recognize when specialized expertise is required.
·         Ability to perform general repairs and assist with facility improvement and remodeling projects.
·         Ability to safely operate appropriate hand tools, power tools, equipment, and vehicles.
·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
·         Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, and complete assignments in a timely manner.
·         Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team environment.
·         Sound judgment and appropriate discretion regarding sensitive or confidential information.
·         Service-oriented attitude and flexibility to serve where needed.
·         Ability to speak, read, and write English sufficiently to understand instructions, safety information, equipment documentation, and workplace communications.
·         The essential functions of this position may require:
o   Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
o   Sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
o   Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
o   Reaching overhead, horizontally, and above the shoulders.
o   Working on ladders, lifts, and elevated locations, including facility rooftops, when properly trained and authorized.
o   Working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather and temperature conditions.
o   Working in environments that may include dust, noise, cleaning products, maintenance materials, and other conditions typically associated with facility maintenance.
o   Safely performing physical tasks associated with facility maintenance, event setup, and equipment operation, with or without reasonable accommodation.
