Overview
Job Summary:
The Financial Analyst, Commercial Strategy & Analytics supports the commercial organization with segmentation, insights, and performance analytics. Sitting at the intersection of Finance and Business Development, this role turns pipeline, bookings, and revenue data into actionable intelligence that drives sponsor targeting, account strategy, and sales execution across Velocity’s global site network. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining commercial segmentation models, sales dashboards, account plans, and KPI reporting, as well as ensuring the integrity and consistency of the data behind them. Your contributions will help ensure the Organization identifies growth opportunities, strengthens its market position, and makes informed business development decisions. Collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Operations will be essential to drive strategic growth.
Responsibilities
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain sponsor and CRO segmentation models based on market analysis of trial volume, therapeutic area diversification, award history, and addressable market share to prioritize business development teams through targeting and territory planning.
- Analyze win/loss rates and award trends to generate actionable commercial insights on where and why Velocity wins, supporting market positioning and growth opportunities.
- Design, build, and maintain sales dashboards covering pipeline, bookings, conversion rates, and revenue by account, segment, and territory using data visualization platforms.
- Define, monitor, and report on sales KPIs that align with business objectives, including pipeline coverage, conversion, cycle time, award value, and quota attainment. Develop dashboards and reports that effectively communicate performance metrics to stakeholders.
- Track sales advancement metrics through each pipeline stage, identify bottlenecks in the funnel, and recommend actions to improve conversion.
- Partner with Business Development to build and maintain sales account plans for key sponsors and CROs, including account-level revenue history, pipeline, wallet share, and growth targets.
- Oversee the data integrity and consistency of commercial reporting. Reconcile CRM data against financial systems, troubleshoot data quality issues, and recommend solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop accurate and timely forecasting inputs tied to bookings, backlog conversion, and revenue. Leverage historical data, market trends, and other relevant factors to provide insights into potential future outcomes.
- Support pharmaceutical and clinical research market sizing, competitive positioning, and pricing analyses to inform commercial planning and deal reviews.
- Partner with senior leadership to provide data-driven insights that guide strategic planning and decision-making. Deliver recurring reporting packages for commercial leadership and executive audiences.
- Work closely with various departments, including Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Operations, to understand their data needs and provide tailored analytical support.

Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in data visualization platforms and Artificial Intelligence tools.
- Expert in working with CRM data (Salesforce).
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex modeling; Power Query experience a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with complex datasets and derive meaningful insights through expert story telling.
- Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to data that reconciles to source systems.
- Familiarity with the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and clinical trials industries; specifically relevant site network experience is a plus.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills to effectively convey insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage workflows, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to align data initiatives with organizational goals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in Investment Banking, Management Consulting, FP&A, commercial finance, sales operations, business intelligence, or revenue analytics.
- Prior experience in investment banking a plus.
- Prior experience with sell/buy side financial models.
- Prior experience in clinical research or a related life sciences field is strongly preferred.
