About this role
The Fluids Construction Project Engineer acts as the customer point-of-contact for product line operations, providing superior levels of support throughout the service delivery process and contract performance. The Fluids Construction Project Engineer leverages their technical expertise to make operational and technological recommendations that will optimize drilling performance. They ensure the services delivered to the customer comply with contractual agreements and meets objectives and performance metrics. This person directs field employees in safe, reliable, and efficient product and service delivery. The Fluids Construction Project Engineer is responsible for driving customer satisfaction and service quality and is responsible for the COSD (i.e., resource consumption).
- Engage with the customer to understand high-level goals, business plans, and objectives related to the project.
- Develop project plan and explore opportunities for value-added products and services, including across PL’s.
- Understand project financial metrics such as PCPR, DSOH and DSO.
- Define risks, risk mitigation measures, and risk responses for the project
- Capture and confirm job-specific requirements.
- Manage project Inventory value and inventory reconciliation.
- Capture project improvements and optimization opportunities such as lessons learned and best practices.
- Develop technical job designs as required for the product line.
- Evaluate the project drilling performance data against relevant benchmark data for the delivered products or services
- Provide technical support throughout the service delivery process.
- Define projects resource plan (assets, products and workforce) and capture demand forecast in business system.
- Manage service delivery process to exceed customer expectations.
- Identify areas where new and cost-effective techniques can be applied.
- Review the quality and completeness of job deliverables including end of well recap, OneTrax Central upload and job invoicing supporting documents.
- Proactively identify and resolve invoice disputes.
Roles and Responsibilities
Minimum 10 years experience as completions/drilling engineer in oil & gas.
Knowledgeable on key SLB product properties, applications, and limitations.
Knowledgeable on the properties of the mud (i.e. solids calculations, fluid chemistry, etc.)
Knowledgeable on the effects of the products/systems on the mud chemistry (i.e. impact on pH, calcium, alkalinity, etc.)
Able to generate and implement the completions fluids program through close collaboration with the Project Engineer.
Responsible for maintaining the completions fluids system within specifications.
Able to calculate volumes (i.e. mud pits, annular, pipe capacity & displacements) without supervision.
Able to apply effective pit management principles (i.e. slugs, pills, storage, reserve, kill muds, etc.) during completions operations.
Knowledgeable on the solids control process and equipment and able to explain how various recommendations (i.e. screen size selection, shale shaker settings, etc.) will impact the completions fluid properties and/or efficiency of solids removal.
Responsible for making appropriate recommendations that will prevent or address different hole problems (i.e. sloughing shales, gumbo shales, abnormal pressures, faults, etc.) encountered during completions operations.
Responsible for making appropriate recommendations that will prevent or address lost circulation events (i.e. Mud Weight reduction in case of loses)
Responsible for making appropriate recommendations that will minimize the impact of wellbore conditions (i.e. temperature, pressure, formation, etc.) on the completions fluids system.
Responsible for making appropriate recommendations that will minimize the impact of contaminants (i.e. H2S, C02, Water intrusion, reactive formations, cement, etc.) on the completions fluids system.
Responsible for making appropriate recommendations related to the completions fluids system that will improve hole cleaning efficiency (i.e. flow rates, Low Shear Rate Viscosities, RPM, ROP, etc.)
Able to perform hydraulics calculations (i.e. annular velocity, bit hydraulics, ECD, etc.) using Virtual HydraulicsTM software without supervision.
Able to demonstrate an advanced or higher level of proficiency in the use of Virtual HydraulicsTM software.
Knowledgeable regarding the impact of Particle Size Distribution (PSD), chemicals and contaminants on fluid loss.
Able to recognize stuck pipe incidents and select appropriate pipe release agents.
Able to identify and recognize lost circulation symptoms and select and apply appropriate remedial treatments.
Able to convert to a Lignosulfunate, Lime, Saturated Salt or Gypsum mud system without supervision.
Additional intermediate or advanced knowledge and skill requirements will apply for complex completions operations such as those encountered.
Must have the legal right to work in the United States without sponsorship.
