Warehouse Assistant
Location: Dartford with travel
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
At Ground Control Geotechnical Solutions , we deliver high-quality geotechnical and groundwork services across a range of projects.
We're looking for a reliable and organised Driver / Store Person to support our depot and site teams by managing the transportation, storage and distribution of equipment and materials. You'll play an important role in making sure our teams have the tools, machinery and materials they need, when they need them.
The role combines driving, stock management, equipment handling and logistics , so you'll need to be hands-on, organised and comfortable with a varied working day.
What you'll do
- Drive company vehicles to deliver tools, equipment and materials to project sites.
- Load and unload deliveries safely using manual handling techniques and forklifts where required.
- Complete vehicle pre-use and post-use checks and report any defects.
- Receive, check and record deliveries against purchase orders.
- Maintain accurate stock records and carry out regular inventory checks.
- Organise and safely store tools, materials and equipment at the depot.
- Ensure equipment returned from site is checked, cleaned and stored correctly.
- Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
- Support site mobilisation and demobilisation by coordinating equipment and materials.
- Work closely with site teams to understand and respond to their equipment and material requirements.
- Arrange urgent deliveries when required to support site operations.
- Assist with setting up and dismantling temporary site stores.
- Follow all HSE, manual handling and transport requirements.
- Keep the depot, vehicles and storage areas clean, organised and safe.

What we're looking for
- Valid UK driving licence with a clean driving record ( Category B minimum; Category C preferred ).
- Experience in a driving, stores or logistics role, ideally within construction, geotechnical or groundwork.
- Experience handling and transporting heavy equipment safely.
- Good organisation and attention to detail.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and confidence carrying out minor equipment maintenance.
- Good understanding of manual handling and safe lifting practices.
- Reliable, punctual and proactive approach.
- Comfortable working closely with site and depot teams.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to a varied workload.
- Strong commitment to health and safety.
Desirable:
- Counterbalance or Reach forklift licence.
- NRSWA/Street Works qualification.
- Experience supporting site mobilisation.
- CSCS card or equivalent.
- First Aid or Fire Marshal training.
