SALARY: $ 93,359.20 /Annually

We help children stay safe, families remain together, and newcomers navigate life in New York City. While our doors are open to all, AAFSC has expertise in serving Arab, Middle Eastern, North African, Muslim, and South Asian communities.

ROLE SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Clinician Supervisor demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes trauma-informed practices, including emotional intelligence, effective communication, understanding of impact of trauma on development, strengths-based and person-centered practice, resilience focus and commitment to growth and change. The Clinician Supervisor will hold an active caseload referred to them by programs across the agency and externally. The Mental Health Clinician Supervisor will also supervise and provide clinical supervision as necessary to other clinicians on the team including MSW/MHC/MFT Interns. The Clinician Supervisor will also manage the team's caseload and manage the referral system. A background in evidence-based practice and working with teams to incorporate evidence-based practices into case and program practice is highly desirable.

The person in this role will be organized, have high attention to detail, maintain confidentiality and act with the utmost discretion as well as act as an ambassador & champion of AAFSC. A commitment to immigrant, refugee and low-income communities is essential for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Carry a caseload of clients as assigned by supervisor.
- Supervise and assign caseloads to mental health clinicians and interns.
- Manage internal and external referral systems.
- Manage mental health services waitlist and keep colleagues updated on the status if the referral.
- Build repository of mental health resources and update on a consistent basis.
- Refine intake process and assessments as needed.
- Perform accountability tasks related to the job, including compiling and maintaining all necessary records.
- Conduct assessments including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, and identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses.
- Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts and completes clinical notes in a timely manner through Theranest platform.
- Run periodic reports on Theranest as a took to support clinicians during supervision.
- Prepare reports as needed in collaboration with the leadership team.
- Conduct Internal Review of charts to ensure that charts meet AAFSC clinical standard.
- Assist Program director with program development.
- Co-lead grants with Senior Director and ensure that deliverables are being met by supporting the clinicians.
- Maintain supervision notes for each supervision conducted with clinicians and interns.
- Support clinicians to increase group therapy and community workshops.
- Conduct community outreach to increase referrals for MH clinic as well as other intern AAFSC programs.
- Coordinate with universities to successfully run the internship program.
- Create strategic plans to increase utilization of mental health services on a consistent basis and decrease no shows.
- Assist staff in collection of outcome data and pre-and-post assessments.
- Conduct clinical sessions in the office, in client home as needed, and virtually as needed.

Team Leadership
- Identify the key capabilities needed to perform staff roles and use available resources to ensure that the right people are in the right positions.
- Manage and delegate responsibilities involved in day-to-day operations to allow for efficient and streamlined programming; provide ownership of tasks to team members within a culture of accountability.
- Communicate regularly with staff & interns on performance; review and evaluate staff & interns to make recommendations for staff changes as necessary.
- Coach and mentor all assigned staff members & interns while giving constructive feedback as appropriate.
- Be open to and respond appropriately to positive and negative feedback; encourage others to express their ideas and opinions.
- Motivate, develop and retain staff & interns, providing them with opportunities for professional growth.
- Responsible for the direct supervision and coaching of assigned team members & MSW, MHC or MFT interns.
- Must ensure that all staff training needs are continually met.

Collaboration & Partnerships
- Proactively network and build relationships with community resources (e.g., community groups, employers, institutions) to support the goals of the program and the organization and ensure cooperation amongst service providers.
- Involve other stakeholders in problem-solving and decision-making to gain buy-in and alignment.
- Represent the organization confidently in interactions with funders, community groups, participants and other key stakeholders.

Other duties and responsibilities
- Participate in AAFSC meetings and trainings, as well as any off-site meetings and trainings assigned by supervisor.
- Perform other duties assigned as necessary by Director of Community Health and Well-Being.

BACKGROUND AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Individual must hold a LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, Ph.D, PsyD, DSW.
- Demonstrates commitment to being trauma informed and maintaining a therapeutic environment and community that promotes safety and nonviolence as the basis for all we do with clients and staff.
- Demonstrates knowledge and utilization of trauma-informed practices, including emotional intelligence, effective communication, understanding of impact of trauma on development, strengths-based and person-centered practice, resilience focus and commitment to growth and change.
- A background in evidence-based practice and working with teams to incorporate evidence- based practices into case and program practice is highly desirable.
- Demonstrates cultural competency or a willingness to learn about the cultural backgrounds of our community members, many of whom identify as Arab, Middle Eastern, North African Muslim and/or South Asian (AMENAMSA).
- Fosters a strengths-based, trauma-informed, accountable, committed and motivated environment.
- Excellent writing skills; strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to properly and accurately maintain electronic case notes and filing systems.
- Must be able to exercise initiative, independent good judgment, flexibility, discretion, and solid decision-making.
- Positive, can-do attitude with ability to hit the ground running.
- Must be able to maintain client confidentiality.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with all layers of the organization.

- U.S. Work Authorization required.
