Position Summary
The Truck Spotter is responsible for safely moving trailers and equipment within the plant yard, loading docks, and designated parking areas. This position ensures trailers are properly positioned for loading and unloading operations while maintaining compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Move trailers to and from loading docks, staging areas, and designated yard locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard tractors and equipment.
- Verify trailer numbers, seal numbers, and locations for accurate placement.
- Maintain communication with shipping, receiving, and transportation personnel.
- Inspect trailers for damage and report issues to management.
- Ensure all trailers are properly secured at docks before loading or unloading.
- Follow all traffic patterns, speed limits, and safety regulations within the facility.
- Maintain accurate records of trailer movements as required.
- Assist with yard organization to ensure efficient trailer flow.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous experience operating a yard truck, spotter truck, or commercial vehicle preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required with copy of medical clearance card.
- Clean driving record preferred.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb in and out of equipment frequently throughout the shift.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and twist for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, vehicle traffic, noise, and moving equipment.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- May be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate.
