About this role

The Senior Vice President (“SVP”), Commercial Banking Strategy is a senior member of the Strategy team responsible for supporting the CCB CEO and the CCB ExCO and shaping and advancing the business' strategic agenda. The role partners closely with senior leadership, regional and product heads, Finance, Risk and other key stakeholders to identify growth opportunities, evaluate risks, assess strategic priorities and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations.

The SVP will independently lead high-impact strategic and analytical work across business growth, client and market opportunities, competitive positioning, investment and resource allocation, strategic risk and operating model effectiveness. The role requires strong strategic thinking and analytical rigor, including the ability to develop in-depth quantitative and qualitative analysis, alongside strong commercial judgement and a deep understanding of Citi’s organizational structure, internal processes, governance and stakeholder landscape.

The successful individual will be comfortable operating across both longer-term strategic priorities and immediate CEO and ExCo needs, navigating effectively across Citi to bring together the right teams, data and perspectives.  They will be expected to synthesize complex information into clear decision-oriented recommendations and help drive priorities from analysis through to execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead high-impact strategic projects and provide analysis and recommendations to the CCB CEO and Executive Committee on key business priorities.
- Develop recommendations on growth, market expansion, client and segment strategy, competitive positioning, investment priorities, capital and expense optimization and business performance improvement
- Lead qualitative and quantitative analysis across markets, competitors, clients and business performance, leveraging both internal Citi data and external sources.
- Structure complex and ambiguous business problems, identify key issues and hypotheses and translate analysis into clear decision-oriented recommendations
- Lead project teams and independently execute priority initiatives, applying strong problem-solving, analytical, project management and communication skills
- Partner across CCB and broader Citi teams including regional and product leadership, finance, risk, and other functions to develop integrated perspectives and drive strategic priorities forward
- Leverage a strong understanding of Citi’s organizational structure, internal processes, governance and stakeholder landscape to navigate the organization effectively and mobilize the right teams and resources
- Support the development, articulation and ongoing implementation of CCB’s strategy, including monitoring progress against strategic priorities and identifying emerging risks and opportunities
- Conduct competitive and industry analysis to assess emerging trends, competitor actions and potential implications for CCB
- Prepare high-quality materials, analyses and recommendations for the CCB CEO and CCB ExCo and other senior forums
- Coordinate effectively with key internal stakeholders and, where relevant, external parties to support strategic initiatives and senior manager priorities
- Identify opportunities to improve internal reporting, operating processes and the effectiveness of the Strategy team
- Represent and uphold Citi’s values, standards and culture

QUALIFICATIONS :

- Experience in Strategy, Business Management, Finance or other highly analytical function
- Demonstrated ability to navigate Citi’s organizational structure, governance, processes and stakeholder landscape effectively, including working across multiple businesses, functions and geographies
- Strong understanding of how Citi operates, with the ability to identify the right teams, data sources and decision-making forums to advance strategic priorities
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to work with complex data, identify key drivers and translate analysis into clear business implications
- Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous business problems, develop hypotheses and produce fact-based, actionable recommendations
- Strong commercial and business acumen including the to assess business performance, growth opportunities, investment priorities and returns
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into concise, senior-management ready materials
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to build credibility and work effectively with senior leaders across CCB and Citi
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive outcomes across teams without direct authority
- High degree of ownership, judgement and discretion, particularly when handling sensitive senior-management topics
- Strong attention to detail

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

- Significant relevant experience within Citi ideally across Strategy, Business Management, Finance, Product, or other roles involving complex analytical and cross-functional work
- Experience working with senior management and developing materials for executive-level decision-making forums
- Strong understanding of commercial banking and CCB’s products, clients and the broader institutional environment
