The selected candidate will support the Space Data Networking Experimentation (SDNX) risk reduction for the fielding of a future Hybrid Space Network (HSN) by prototyping an advanced hardware network appliance and a software lifecycle network management system for use with software defined networking technology.
LM shall develop and prototype key components of the HSN architecture and shall be responsible for providing the core network management system, our Horizon enterprise software, and SpaceMesh Orchestrator while leveraging our cybersecurity/RMF capabilities.
The primary SDNX goals for LM are to prototype and deliver an open, standards-based framework, ensuring full interoperability with Government-provided third-party components, and to demonstrate integrated HSN operations.
This DevSecOps role blends development, operations, and security expertise to automate, monitor, and enhance the security posture of applications and infrastructure while maintaining high availability and performance. The candidate will collaborate with an exceptional team of software and systems engineers prototyping features and solutions and demonstrating software features and capabilities to both internal and external partners. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong background in a variety of cyber defense tools, processes, and technologies, is essential.
Performs tech planning, design, devel, integ, v&v for total syst life cycle. Analyses performed at all levels of syst product incl. concept, design, fabrication, test, instl, operation, maintenance & disposal, incorp design methods & stds for Cyber Security, SW & HW infrastructure. Designs, devels, docs, tests & debugs SW that contains logical & math solutions to business/mission problems/questions in computer language. Ensures the logical & syst conversion of customer/product reqs into total syst solutions that ack tech, sched, cost constraints & align to SW & HW deployment pipelines & factories. Performs func & timeline analysis, detail trade & reqs allocation & interface defs studies to translate customer reqs into HW & SW feature defs & acceptance criteria. Applies stds, processes, procedures & tools throughout the devel life cycle. Applies HW & SW knowledge, cyber security stds in business/mission apps, & feedback from users to develop SW. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles doc of program devel & analyzes syst capabilities to resolve program problems, output/input data acq, programming tech & controls. Ensures SW stds are met. Validates incorp of features & use cases into implemented designs
Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Basic Qualifications
Ability to successfully complete additional enhanced security review in accordance with Government contract requirements
Detailed knowledge and understanding of systems engineering process
Prior experience with satellite ground systems design, development, integration, and test
Experienced in software development using programming and scripting languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, etc.
Experience working in an Agile CI/CD development environment, including tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitLab
No clearance required prior to start. Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Desired Skills
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Strong knowledge of modern technology frameworks, IP networks, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, APIs, DevSecOps, and data architecture
Understanding of basic usage of languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash for automation, data analysis and delivery experience.
Experience in application containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift)
Experience with enterprise software products including Horizon, HADES and SpaceMesh Orchestrator
Experienced in space data networking
Experience with network design processes, to include understanding of security objectives, operational objectives, and risk mitigation strategy for the information system.
Recognized cloud practitioner and experience with Cloud Security (CCSP, AWS, CSA, CompTIA Cloud+, CCSK, or others).
Ability to work directly with Government customers and FFRDC stakeholders
Support occasional business travel (up to 25%)
Ability to obtain a Clearance

GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role.
