Description
As the Director of Business Development, you will lead the growth, profitability, and overall strategy for SendCutSend’s product lines and self-service manufacturing offerings. You will operate as a business-unit leader, with accountability for P&L performance, product-line strategy, pricing, material and service offerings, and the customer experience that turns first-time customers into repeat customers.
You will connect customer demand with manufacturing capabilities, working across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Sales, Support, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Finance to determine where SendCutSend should invest, expand, price, and optimize its offerings.
This role requires a strong understanding of both the commercial and operational sides of the business. You will use customer behavior, manufacturing economics, competitive intelligence, and operational capacity to drive sustainable revenue and margin growth.

What you’ll do
Lead P&L performance for assigned product lines, including revenue, gross margin, profitability, order volume, and growth against established targets.
- Develop and execute product-line strategies that align customer demand, manufacturing capabilities, capacity, and company growth objectives.
- Own strategy for materials, thicknesses, finishes, secondary operations, services, pricing, and promotions across SendCutSend’s online ordering platform.
- Evaluate product-line economics, including material costs, manufacturing costs, pricing, utilization, demand, and margin, to identify opportunities for profitable growth.
- Analyze ordering behavior, conversion, cart abandonment, average order value, repeat purchases, customer feedback, and competitive pricing to identify growth opportunities.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Supply Chain leadership to align product availability, lead times, inventory, sourcing, equipment capabilities, and production capacity with customer demand.
- Identify and develop business cases for new materials, manufacturing capabilities, finishes, secondary operations, and services.
- Partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize platform improvements that make it easier for customers to configure, price, and order manufactured parts.
- Partner with Marketing to develop campaigns, promotions, educational content, and customer acquisition strategies supporting product-line growth.
- Establish and monitor product-line KPIs, including revenue, margin, order volume, average order value, conversion, repeat-purchase rate, lead time, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify underperforming products, services, or offerings and develop strategies to improve profitability, reposition the offering, or recommend discontinuation.
- Serve as the voice of the customer while balancing customer expectations with manufacturing capability, operational efficiency, and profitability.
- Develop annual and long-range growth plans for assigned product lines.
- Present performance, forecasts, strategic recommendations, and investment business cases to executive leadership.
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing product-line management team as the business scales.
- Establish processes, reporting, and operating rhythms that create accountability for product-line performance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in business-line management, category management, general management, e-commerce, manufacturing strategy, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience building and leading high-performing teams through periods of rapid growth.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, technical-products, or e-commerce environment.
- Demonstrated P&L accountability or significant responsibility for revenue, margin, and profitability.
- Proven experience developing pricing, product assortment, market, or growth strategies.
- Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to translate customer, operational, and financial data into business decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate business opportunities using revenue potential, manufacturing costs, capacity requirements, margin, and customer demand.
- Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives involving Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Product, Marketing, Sales, and Finance.
- Experience developing and presenting business cases and strategic recommendations to senior or executive leadership.
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience scaling a retail or self-serve channel within a high-growth company.
- Familiarity with CAD, DFM (design-for-manufacturability), or sheet metal and CNC processes.
- MBA or master's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time
- Ability to use a computer, phone, and other standard office equipment
- Ability to move throughout office and manufacturing environments for extended periods
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work in environments with noise, moving equipment, temperature variation, and industrial hazards while following safety protocols
Work Environment
- Primarily an office environment with close, regular use of computer monitors
- Time on the shop floor, which requires following standard PPE requirements (safety glasses, hearing protection where posted, closed-toe shoes)

Salary Description
$160,000 - $180,000 annually
