Summary

Looking for a local driving opportunity where you can be home every day without needing a CDL?

DSV is hiring Non-CDL Local P&D Drivers to operate box trucks within an assigned local service area. You’ll complete multiple pickup and delivery stops each day transporting no-touch freight , while providing professional and reliable service at customer locations

As a DSV Local P&D Driver, you’ll be responsible for safely operating assigned equipment, ensuring freight is properly secured, completing required vehicle inspections and documentation, and communicating closely with dispatch to keep pickups and deliveries moving safely and efficiently.

This is an hourly position paying $25.00–$26.00 per hour , with $52,000–$55,000+ annual earning potential , including an estimated $37.50–$39.00 hours of overtime per week based on business needs . Eligible new hires can also earn a $2.000 Sign-On & Retention Bonus based on continued employment and the terms of the bonus program.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Perform local pickup and delivery (P&D) routes within an assigned service area; home daily.

- Transport no-touch freight while completing multiple stops per day, including pickups, deliveries, and potential returns.

- Safely operate a non-CDL vehicle, including a box truck under the CDL threshold, while adhering to applicable DOT regulations, state traffic laws, and company policy.

- Interact professionally with customers, ensuring clear communication and high service standards at all delivery points.

- Accurately complete and manage shipping documents, proof of delivery (POD), and electronic logs (ELD).

- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance and report defects or maintenance issues immediately.

- Safely back trucks into docks and maneuver in tight or congested delivery locations.

- Verify freight is properly secured prior to transport to prevent movement or damage during transit.

- Communicate effectively and proactively with dispatch regarding route updates, delays, or service issues.

- Coordinate with customer and operational personnel to ensure freight is properly staged and ready for pickup and delivery.

- Identify and report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.

- Represent DSV professionally at customer locations.

- Maintain compliance with all applicable DOT and state traffic requirements, including hours-of-service and drug and alcohol policies.

- Support team operations and dock coordination as needed without routine loading or unloading of freight.

- Perform additional duties as assigned to support local operations.

Qualifications & Experience

- Valid Class C Driver License required.

- Clean driving record for the past two (2) years.

- Minimum one-year Medical Certificate and ability to meet applicable physical qualification requirements under Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 391.41, Physical Qualifications of Drivers.

- TWIC card or ability to obtain within 90 days, if required.

- No positive drug or alcohol test result within the past five (5) years.

- No accident involving bodily injury within the past three (3) years.

- No DUI/DWI, reckless driving, or speeding tickets 12 MPH or higher in the past five (5) years.

- Experience in local P&D operations, multi-stop routing, and urban driving environments preferred.

Skills & Competencies

- Strong commitment to safe driving practices and compliance with applicable transportation and company safety requirements.

- Knowledge of load securement and safe freight transportation practices.

- Ability to safely maneuver and back a box truck in loading docks, customer facilities, and tight or congested delivery locations.

- Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS, routing applications, and route-planning tools.

- Strong customer service skills and professionalism in customer-facing environments.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple stops and time-sensitive deliveries.

- Strong attention to detail when completing shipping documents, proof of delivery, electronic logs, inspections, and other required documentation.

- Ability to identify and promptly communicate vehicle, freight, customer, or safety concerns.

- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with dispatch and operations.

- Ability to adapt to changing routes, traffic conditions, weather, customer requirements, and operational needs.

- Ability to use mobile technology, electronic logging devices, GPS, and other required transportation systems.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods while operating a motor vehicle and use hands and fingers to operate vehicle controls and electronic equipment. The position also requires climbing, balancing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and walking. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to safely operate assigned vehicles and perform required inspections.

The employee must be physically able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:

- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds as required.

- Safely enter and exit the vehicle and access cargo areas using available steps and handholds.

- Operate vehicle doors, lift gates, ramps, and other vehicle equipment, as applicable.

- Perform required vehicle inspections, including inspecting tires, lights, brakes, connections, and other equipment components.

- Operate vehicle controls and equipment safely and effectively.

- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, and pull as necessary to perform required job duties.

- Stand and walk on a variety of surfaces, including pavement, gravel, loading docks, yards, and customer facilities.

- Meet all applicable DOT physical qualification requirements for the assigned vehicle and operation.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this role, the employee works in a combination of environments, including inside a truck cab and outdoors at customer locations, terminals, and on public roadways. The position requires regular exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind during pickup and delivery activities.

The employee may also be exposed to vehicle exhaust, airborne particles, noise, and vibration associated with operating motor vehicles. Work is frequently performed in busy warehouse yards, loading docks, and urban delivery environments, which may include tight spaces, traffic congestion, and time-sensitive delivery schedules. Noise levels can range from moderate inside the cab to loud at customer sites and industrial locations. This is a local pickup and delivery operation within an assigned service area. Drivers return home daily.

For this position, the expected base pay range is $25.00 – $26.00 hourly.
