As the Senior Manager of Billing & Collections, you will be closely involved in leading the day-to-day operations and continuous enhancements of the revenue cycle for Goodwin's UK offices. This is a highly visible position that demands strong leadership skills to prioritise, plan, and oversee diverse activities. In this role, you will contribute to shaping the billing and collection strategy, ensuring alignment with the Firm’s objectives. Adaptations are made based on market dynamics, operational shifts, and future growth, maintaining high service standards. Effective business partnering with practice units, partners, and global operations teams is essential.

What You Will Do:

- Performance Metrics Oversight: Review and monitor key performance metrics for the billing and collection organisation.
- Invoicing Excellence: Establish and maintain protocols and procedures to ensure timely, complete, consistent, and accurate client invoicing, adhering to all necessary guidelines.
- Revenue Optimisation: Track and minimise revenue loss resulting from ineffective billing or collection processes. Effectively manage and communicate fee arrangements, including busted deal discounts, fixed, tiered, and capped fees.
- Proactive Solutions: Seek process and technology enhancements to boost productivity and improve departmental services.
- Financial Policy Adherence: Ensure continuous compliance with the Firm’s financial policies.
- Collaboration and Communication: Proactively engage with senior leadership and attorneys to ensure billing services meet and exceed expectations.
- Strategic Direction: Collaborate with the global Billing & Collections leadership team to establish short and long-term projects, shaping the strategic direction of the department and broader finance function. Share best practices and define effective operational processes.
- Business Issue Resolution: Identify critical business challenges and partner with financial systems management for process improvements and technology solutions.
- Leadership and Coaching: Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance.
- Target Achievement: Work with the Managing Director/Director of Billing & Collections to meet monthly billing and revenue collection targets.
- Insightful Reporting: Provide relevant reporting on billing and collection data, including key performance metrics for firm management.
- Assume unique local responsibilities or additional duties specific to the role or location as requested.

Who You Are:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent.
- 8-10 years of related financial management (particular in billing and collections) experience in a professional service organisation, law firm experience preferred.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of financial management and business intelligence systems such as Aderant Expert, and/or various electronic billing platforms.
- Team-oriented, proactive thinker with excellent leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Skilled communicator with exceptional organisational, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage an employee base spanning multiple geographic locations and multiple time zones.
- Ability to positively influence high-level/cross-departmental business decisions.
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and work in high stress situations.
- Must thrive in a rapid-paced and dynamic business environment with a willingness to travel as necessary.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in spreadsheet software applications.
