DuPont 12-hour rotating shift schedule (days and nights): 4 nights on/3 off, 3 days on/1 off, 3 nights on/3 off, 4 days on/7 off. Supports 24/7 operations and includes weekends and holidays.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operation of natural gas liquids (NGL) fractionation processes and associated storage systems. This position encompasses both control room (console) and outside plant operations and requires a thorough understanding of plant systems, equipment, and operating processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitors and controls plant processes through control panels, computerized systems, and manual controls, adjusting pressures, flow rates, temperatures, fluid levels, and other process variables to maintain safe, reliable, and efficient operations and product quality.
- Operates, monitors, and troubleshoots gas feed treating, fractionation, product treating, dehydration, storage, and logistics
- Performs routine plant rounds and field inspections of compressors, pumps, heaters, columns, tanks, piping, valves, instrumentation, and other equipment to identify abnormal conditions, leaks, or potential equipment issues.
- Operates valves, switches, pumps, compressors, motors, and other field equipment; performs equipment lineups, alignments, isolations, changeovers, and other outside operator activities as required.
- Supports plant startups, shutdowns, equipment transitions, process changes, and abnormal operating conditions, coordinating activities between the control room and outside plant.
- Monitors gauges, alarms, equipment condition, sounds, vibration, temperature, pressure, and flow to identify and respond to developing operational or equipment issues.
- Performs routine servicing, lubrication, minor maintenance, equipment checks, alarm testing, and Process Safety Management (PSM) testing on assigned equipment.
- Troubleshoots process and mechanical equipment by identifying abnormal conditions, determining potential causes, taking corrective action, and verifying equipment has returned to normal operation.
- Maintains accurate equipment readings, operating logs, operational reports, product information, and other required documentation and communicates significant conditions to supervision and oncoming operators.
- Supports maintenance activities by preparing equipment for work, assisting with isolations and lockout/tagout activities, issuing or monitoring safe work permits upon qualification, and returning equipment to service.
- Maintains housekeeping, safety, security, and environmental compliance within assigned operating areas and operates in accordance with PSM requirements and environmental permits.
- Identifies potential and actual hazards, uses required PPE and safe work practices, and stops work when unsafe conditions exist.
- Coordinates with operators, maintenance, engineering, laboratory, and other personnel to safely resolve operational issues and maintain reliable plant operations.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of the Gas Plant Operator role and maintains proficiency in both control room and outside plant operations through required training and qualification programs.
- Maintains a constant focus on safe and compliant operations by recognizing potential hazards, intervening when necessary, exercising stop work authority, and taking appropriate action to protect personnel, equipment, the community, and the environment.

- Mechanical Aptitude Develops ability to understand and apply mechanical concepts and principles such as, but not limited to, sounds, heat conduction, velocity, gravity, friction, pressure, kinetic and potential energy, etc when working or using mechanical machinery.
- Operation & Control Develops understanding of how process controls and automation are used to operate equipment in process plant.
- Operation Monitoring Develops ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Safety Awareness Ability to recognize and identify potential hazards. Evaluates changes in work environment with respect to impact on safety of self and others. Understands potential threats created by deviation from safety procedures and improper use of tools and equipment. Uses personal protection equipment. Uses tools and equipment in compliance with manuals and training. Calls attention to potential and actual hazardous conditions as they arise. Demonstrates knowledge of lockout/tag out procedures. Stops work if there are unsafe working conditions.
- Troubleshooting Applies in difficult or complex situations ability to use process of finding problem cause, correcting and returning equipment back into service. Uses steps such as: verify problem existence by comparing to normal operation, identify and locate cause, correct problem, confirm correction addressed cause and follow-up to prevent recurrence.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Must be able to pass drug test and background check.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Prior midstream experience preferred.
- Prior plant operations and/or fractionation experience preferred.
- Prior consol-based control system experience preferred.
- Prior experience with centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, fired heaters, and distillation columns preferred.
