Summary:
This position is responsible for operating manual milling machines and surface grinders, as well as operating Heat Treat and Nitriding furnaces to facilitate die manufacturing and repair. The Machinist Die Maker II ensures that all work is completed safely, to high-quality standards, and in accordance with standard written procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following .
- Operates manual milling machines and surface grinders, utilizing tools such as mics and calipers.
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
- Operates Heat Treat(High Heat, Tempering) and Nitriding furnaces, following standard written procedures.
- Performs deburring and buffing of dies, backers, bolsters, and spreaders.
- Performs repair work as directed by work order for Die correction and other departments.
- Keep assigned work areas clean at all times.
- Operates NC machines.
- Performs die inspections.
- Performs other related work as required by leadership.
- Follow all safety and environmental protocols.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None typically required for this position unless otherwise directed by management.
Education/Experience/Skills:
- High School Graduate or GED
- Machine Tool Technology Desired
- Some Machine Shop with CNC, EDM Desired
- Some Programming skills
- Be vigilant about safety
- Quality - conscious, oriented to excellence
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Proper lifting techniques required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; stoop or kneel; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, crouch, or crawl.
Travel Requirements:
The travel required for this position is less than 1%.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position. Individuals are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at designated times and in specified environments in accordance with established safety program requirements. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate. While performing job duties, individuals may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts.
