Director, Executive Development

We are seeking a Director of Executive Development to shape and lead Mastercard’s enterprise approach to developing nearly 1,000 Senior Vice Presidents and Executive Vice Presidents worldwide. In this position, you will set the strategy and oversee an integrated portfolio of executive onboarding, milestone experiences, skill building, coaching, and team effectiveness solutions that accelerate transitions, strengthen enterprise leadership, and enable sustained business impact. This includes leading flagship experiences such as Voyager, executive celebrations, and ongoing learning aligned to the moments that matter across an executive’s career. The ideal candidate is a strategic, globally minded, and outcomes-focused leadership development leader who combines executive presence and strong business acumen with the ability to translate enterprise priorities into distinctive, high-impact experiences. You will partner closely with senior executives, People Business Partners, Talent Consultants, Executive Talent Acquisition, and external experts to deliver a cohesive and differentiated executive development journey. This role reports to the Head of Leadership Development.
Responsibilities:
Set and evolve Mastercard’s enterprise executive development strategy for nearly 1,000 SVPs and EVPs, aligned with business priorities, the Mastercard Way, and the capabilities required for enterprise leadership.
Own the end-to-end executive development portfolio, creating a coherent journey across onboarding, milestone experiences, ongoing skill building, coaching, assessments, and team effectiveness.
Lead executive onboarding for newly hired, promoted, and transitioning SVPs and EVPs, including 90-day guidance, integration buddies, start-group cohorts, coaching, new leader and team integration, and milestone celebrations.
Lead and continually strengthen Voyager, Mastercard’s flagship EVP development experience, from cohort strategy and executive sponsorship through immersive learning, coaching, peer connection, and sustained application.
Design and deliver distinctive development experiences for SVPs and EVPs, including executive celebrations, performance and development sessions, enterprise-relevant skill building, and other high-impact learning moments.
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives and P&C partners, translating enterprise priorities and executive needs into targeted individual, cohort, and team solutions.
Partner with Executive Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, People Business Partners, and business leaders to ensure executive transitions and development are connected, timely, and tailored to critical business needs.
Oversee executive coaching, assessment, and team effectiveness offerings, ensuring the right solutions are deployed at the right moments and integrated into broader leadership journeys.
Lead a high-performing team and manage external partners, program governance, budgets, communications, and delivery standards across a complex global portfolio.
Use executive feedback, participation data, and outcome measures to evaluate impact, strengthen experiences, and communicate the value of executive development to senior stakeholders.
Stay current on executive development research and market practices, bringing forward innovative approaches that are practical, globally relevant, and differentiated for Mastercard.
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience in executive and leadership development, with emphasis on designing high-impact onboarding, transition, and development strategies for senior executives in a complex global organization.
Strong strategic thinking, project management, and global program delivery skills.
Combines strategic thought leadership with proven expertise in program execution.
Proven thought leader, with track record of writing, speaking, and/or consulting on talent trends.
Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior leaders across a matrixed organization.
Experience aligning development with performance, potential, and succession planning.
Demonstrated experience managing external vendors, contracts, and complex budgets, with strong financial stewardship and a focus on quality, value, and measurable outcomes.
Excellent facilitation, communication, and storytelling skills across formats and audiences.
Collaborative and results-driven, with a track record of delivering measurable talent impact.
Passion for enabling leadership growth and shaping the future of the organization.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
