About this role
Part-Time Temporary Accountant, Single Audit Preparation
Energy Innovation Center Institute, Inc. (EICI) — Pittsburgh, PA (hybrid/remote flexible)
Immediate start preferred; we are looking to fill this role as soon as possible.
Energy Innovation Center Institute, Inc., a Pittsburgh-based 501(c)(3) workforce development nonprofit, is seeking a part-time, temporary accountant or CPA with direct experience in federal Single Audits under 2 CFR Part 200 (Uniform Guidance) to support our organization through an upcoming first-time Single Audit engagement. This is a defined-term engagement, approximately 120 days, with the possibility of extension depending on audit timeline.
What you'll do:
- Prepare the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and review supporting documentation for completeness
- Direct and review the compiling, organizing, and formatting of supporting documentation for federal awards administered in 2025, including payroll allocation, procurement files, and invoicing detail, working alongside existing EICI staff who will assist with document gathering under your direction
- Serve as the day-to-day internal point of contact with our external audit firm as they conduct the compliance audit
- Help organize and respond to the auditor's PBC (provided-by-client) requests
- Review internal controls documentation related to federal award compliance
- Support preparation of any required corrective action plans if findings arise
What we're looking for:
- CPA or equivalent accounting credential strongly preferred
- Direct, hands-on experience with Single Audits and the OMB Compliance Supplement, not just general nonprofit accounting
- Comfort directing and reviewing the work of non-accounting staff, and working independently in a small, thinly staffed organization
- Strong organizational skills; this role involves compiling and formatting existing financial records to meet Single Audit documentation standards
- Available to start immediately
Engagement details:
- Part-time, hours to be discussed based on experience and pace of work
- Temporary/contract basis, roughly 120 days, hybrid or remote with occasional in-person availability for Pittsburgh-based meetings
- Compensation: $50 to $80 per hour based on experience
